Twenty-one student-athletes from Peekskill High School and Hendrick Hudson High School have officially committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, marking a major milestone in their academic and athletic journeys.

Surrounded by proud family members, coaches, teachers, classmates, and school administrators, the seniors were recognized during commitment ceremonies held at their respective schools. The events celebrated years of dedication, perseverance, and achievement in the classroom and in competition.

Peekskill

On Tuesday, June 9, Peekskill held its annual Senior Signing Day at the Ford Administration Building, across from Peekskill High School. Four seniors — Jackelin Alfaro, Rocco D’Elia, Darnell Hinton Jr., and Elijah McKenzie — signed letters of intent to continue both their academic and athletic careers at area colleges.

Alfaro, captain of the Peekskill girls soccer team, will attend the University of Bridgeport, where she hopes to compete for the Purple Knights women’s soccer program. D’Elia and Hinton Jr., both key members of this year’s Hudson Valley championship football team, are headed to Utica University, where they plan to continue their football careers at the NCAA Division III level.

McKenzie has committed to the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s men’s lacrosse program. Although Peekskill does not field a lacrosse team, he has spent the past three seasons competing with the Ossining co-op team, where he has excelled as a defensive midfielder.

Alfaro, D’Elia, Hinton Jr., and McKenzie will join their classmates from Peekskill’s Class of 2026 at graduation on Friday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

Hen Hud

Hendrick Hudson Athletic Director Beau Morki hosted the district’s annual Student-Athlete College Commitment Ceremony on May 26 in the high school gymnasium. According to a district press release, the event honored members of the Class of 2026 who will continue their academic and athletic careers at NCAA and NJCAA institutions.

The Class of 2026 students who have committed to compete in college athletics include: Olivier Birotte (Track & Field; SUNY Cortland), Anthony Davis (Men’s Volleyball; Lees-McRae College), Seth De Leon (Men’s Volleyball; Manhattanville University), Victor Delgado (Cross Country, Track & Field; Dartmouth College), Juan Espinoza (Men’s Soccer, Track & Field; Iona University), Peyton Gilleo (Women’s Lacrosse; Albion College), Jake Hentze (Baseball; Finger Lakes CC), Chloe Howard (Cross Country, Track & Field; Ursinus College), Emma Johannsen (Women’s Tennis, Softball; SUNY Farmingdale), Maddie Little (Field Hockey; Mercy University), Ramy Lopez (Track & Field; SUNY Oneonta), Justin Parkes (Football; Alfred State College), Yorgia Schattman (Women’s Soccer;  Russell Sage College), Elyse Smith (Women’s Basketball; Cheyney University), Kate Stratton (Women’s Basketball; SUNY Cortland), Matthew Sullivan (Track & Field; SUNY Oneonta), Vincet Valdez (Track & Field; SUNY Oneonta).
