Hendrick Hudson athletes enjoyed a successful showing at the 2026 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held June 13-14 at Webster Schroeder High School in Webster, N.Y.
The Sailors were led by sophomore standout Sophia Savatgy, who added multiple medals to her already impressive resume. Savatgy captured Class B state titles in both the 100-meter dash (12.19) and 200-meter dash (24.55). She also placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 56.10 seconds.
Her performances earned her qualification for the Federation Championships, which feature both public and private school athletes, in all three events. Savatgy went on to place seventh in the 100 meters and eighth in both the 200 meters and 400 meters.
Junior Oona McManus delivered another strong performance, finishing fifth among Class B athletes and 13th overall in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:13.40. The mark also established a new school record.
Other notable performances included Perry Quaye, who tied for second in Class B and finished eighth overall in the boys high jump with a clearance of 6 feet, 4 inches; Taiten Robinson, who placed fourth in Class B and 22nd overall in the pentathlon with 2,948 points; and the girls 4×100-meter relay team of Michelle Ikokwu, Elyse Smith, Alexis Smith, and Isabella Veloz, which finished 16th in Class B in 52.21 seconds.
Savatgy and McManus will conclude their 2026 seasons at the New Balance Outdoor Track & Field Nationals on Sunday, June 21 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
