The Peekskill Herald publishes opinion pieces by citizens - elected and non-elected. Contributors need to include a paragraph about themselves and give a cell number where they can be reached for their identity to be verified. This number will NOT be published.

The purpose of an opinion article is to educate and engage readers, helping them make informed decisions. Ideas and issues are acceptable subjects for an opinion piece but will stand a greater chance to be published when referring to a specific news event. When facts and background are included in the opinion piece, it becomes a stronger piece of writing.

The length of opinion pieces varies depending on the subject, but generally between 400-600 words keeps the reader's interest.

The publisher reserves the right to run, hold, or reject any submission based on factors such as relevance, editorial schedule or other reasons at the publisher’s sole discretion, and may suggest minor-nonmaterial edits for the purpose of clarity or brevity.
