Over the past year, 2nd Nature Skate Park, located on Highland Avenue, has undergone a graffiti “renaissance,” with local writers jockeying for a slice of this once-empty, vast canvas. This summer, they have competition. The park has combined its skate camp with “graffiti camp,” where local youth can learn the basics of the art form with safe, water-based spray paint and rotating guest instructors from the vibrant Hudson Valley street art scene. Last week, the Peekskill Herald dropped in on a class led by Beacon-based artist Mike “Skatchface” Long. (Long recently painted the skate park’s “bowl” with his take on YAMA, the Hindu god of death and justice.) Take a look!
