All winter varsity sports in the Hendrick Hudson School District have concluded, bringing the Sailors’ 2025-26 season to a close. Several athletes also recently received postseason honors.

Final results and honors are listed below.

Indoor Track

Several athletes from the Hen Hud track and field team competed at the 2026 Nike Indoor Nationals from March 13-15, delivering standout performances in their final meet of the indoor season while shattering multiple school records.

On the girls side, Chloe Howard finished fourth in the championship mile race walk with a time of 7:54.84, earning All-American honors and breaking her own school record. Oona McManus placed 35th in the Emerging Elite (EE) 800-meter run in 2:19.32, breaking a 45-year-old school record. Sophia Savatgy finished sixth in the EE 60-meter dash in 7.78 and also broke her school record in the 200-meter dash, running 25.16 in the preliminaries to finish 23rd overall. She continued her strong showing in the championship 400-meter dash, breaking her school record again with a time of 57.98 to place 39th.

Savatgy, Isabella Veloz, Danica Kostulas, and Isabelle Carvalho competed in the EE 1,600-meter sprint medley relay, finishing 21st in 4:37.63. Carvalho, McManus, Ava Schembari, and Abby Mazzoni ran the EE 4×400-meter relay, placing 21st with a time of 4:25.76.

On the boys side, Victor Delgado finished 36th in the championship two-mile run with a time of 9:19.16. Perry Quaye placed seventh in the EE high jump, clearing 1.90 meters. Quaye, Delgado, Salpreme Taylor, and Taiten Robinson also broke their own school record in the championship sprint medley relay, finishing 15th in 3:39.63.

Delgado also ran the anchor 1,600-meter leg in 4:17.27 for a New York State All-Star Distance Medley Relay team alongside fellow Section 1 runners Chris Doherty (Dobbs Ferry), Will Lynch (Suffern), and Charlie Rich (Scarsdale). Competing against all-star teams from other states, the group placed eighth with a time of 10:09.87.

“Usually just making it to Nationals is spectacular, but to run PRs and break school records is beyond expectations,” wrote Hen Hud head coach Marcia Bailey to the Peekskill Herald.

With the winter season now officially over, Hen Hud track athletes will have little time to rest as the spring season is already underway. If their indoor performances are any indication, they should have no trouble carrying their success into the spring.

Bowling

Hen Hud’s Lucas Tangredi, Richie Simonetti, and Kyle Cooper joined members of North Salem’s bowling team to form a Section 1 composite team that competed at the state championships this past weekend at AMF Syracuse Lanes in Syracuse.

Tangredi rolled a high game of 224, Simonetti posted a high game of 220, and Cooper added a high game of 201. Following the competition, Tangredi was honored with the Good Sportsmanship Award.

Hen Hud bowling — both boys and girls — enjoyed a strong 2025-26 campaign. The girls finished the regular season as league champions with a 10-2 record, while the boys went 7-6. Emma Barbelet and Tangredi led their respective teams and were each named their league’s Most Outstanding Senior Bowlers, earning the Dan Veglia Award.

With the state championships now complete, Hen Hud bowling will look to rebuild next season as the program graduates 13 seniors: Richie Simonetti, Lucas Tangredi, Jet Caracappa, Aiden Lawless, Michael Socorro, Matteo Velardo, Daniel Basini, Emma Barbelet, Katherine Devine, Antonia Cooper, Julia Freitas, Peyton Gilleo, and Mariella Mills.

Gymnastics

Hen Hud senior Maggie Johannsen tied for 14th on the balance beam with a score of 9.125 at the state championships on Feb. 28 at Valley Gymnastics in Utica. She represented Section 1 alongside other athletes from schools across the region.

This past week, Johannsen was named All-Section by local gymnastics coaches. She has earned All-League and All-Section honors every year since joining the Somers merged varsity team as an eighth grader.

Johannsen will graduate in June as one of the most decorated gymnasts to represent Hendrick Hudson. In addition to her postseason honors, she has competed at the state championships every year since joining the team in middle school. As a sophomore, she won two sectional titles in the vault and floor exercise and has been considered one of Section 1’s top contenders for several years. She was also part of three Somers sectional championship teams and was named Westchester/Putnam Gymnast of the Year in 2023 as a freshman, among many other accolades.

Honors Roll in for Sailors

Senior girls basketball captains Kate Stratton and Elyse Smith recently added postseason honors to their four-year varsity careers. Stratton was named All-Section, while Smith earned All-Conference recognition. The duo were also named All-League after guiding the Sailors to their third consecutive league championship, with Stratton additionally earning League Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors.

In other news, Anthony Davis, a member of the Croton/Hen Hud/Briarcliff boys volleyball co-op, was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s 2026 Boys High School Watch List on Mar. 10. Hen Hud’s William McKinley was also recognized, earning a spot on the High Risers List for non-seniors.
