Wrestling
On Jan. 6, Peekskill fell at home to Brewster, 49-28, in a dual meet. Ethan Pereira (126 pounds), Juan Naranjo (150), and Stephen Cordero (175) each earned victories by pin, while Julian Perez (103) picked up a 13-3 major decision.
The Red Devils then competed in the Sailor Classic at Hendrick Hudson High School on Jan. 10, finishing with 11 wins and eight losses. Notable performances included Naranjo placing fourth at 150 pounds, Cordero taking fifth at 175, and Yamliel Casiano capturing first place in the 144-pound consolation bracket.
Peekskill returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 13, with a matchup against Yonkers at Charles E. Gorton High School at 4:30 p.m., followed by a home meet against Mahopac on Thursday, Jan. 15, also at 4:30 p.m. The Red Devils will close out the week by competing in two tournaments on Saturday, Jan. 17: the 45th Annual Somers Tournament at Somers High School and the Bulldog Wrestling Tournament at Beacon High School.

Girls Basketball
In their first game in three weeks, Peekskill rang in the new year in style, cruising past Riverside, 50-26, on Jan. 12. The Red Devils were led by Alani Jacobs with 13 points, including a three-pointer, and Nai’lah Smalls with 12. Riverside’s offense was carried almost entirely by Shekinah Coleman, who scored 25 of the team’s 26 points, knocking down six shots from beyond the arc.
Now 4-5 overall, Peekskill will hit the road to face Port Chester on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 4:30 p.m.
Bowling

Peekskill’s boys and girls bowling teams fell 7-0 to Ossining on Jan. 7. Despite the sweep, Odali Alfaro led the girls with a team-high 395 series and a 146 high game, while Kimberly Alfaro added a 353 series. For the boys, Dillon Sniffen posted a 503 series with a 175 high game, and Ghavyn Lowery contributed a 436 series along with the team’s top game of 187.
The following day (Jan. 8), a short-handed Red Devils boys squad dropped another 7-0 decision to Somers, while the girls had a bye. Lowery recorded a team-high 445 series, and Sniffen rolled the team’s top game at 176.
With the boys standing at 2-6 and the girls at 3-4, Peekskill returns to the lanes on Wednesday, Jan. 14, against North Salem at Hudson Lanes and Games at 3:30 p.m.
Boys Swimming
Peekskill fell to White Plains, 85-46, on Jan. 7 before dropping a 75-65 decision to Yonkers at Mark Twain Pool on Jan. 12.
Despite the loss, the Red Devils turned in an encouraging performance against Yonkers, recording 13 season-best times. Senior captain Justin Vizhnay led the way with a season best in the 200 freestyle (2:53.66). Jhon Suscal, Jeam Illaquiche, Jostin Segarra and Alex Bello each posted personal records in the 50 freestyle. Gael Toapanta recorded a season best in the 100 freestyle (1:12.31), while Suscal also added a season best in the 100 freestyle (1:22.53).
The 200 freestyle relay team of Alex Ninan, Erick Morocho, Anthony Arias and Alex Velasco turned in a season-best time of 1:59.49. Morocho also recorded a season best in the 100 backstroke (1:18.59), and Marcelo Rossi posted a season best in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.20).
“We are a young team but every day we are getting stronger and better,” said Peekskill head coach Miranda Mattiace. “It is really impressive to see where we started and to see where we are now.”
For their next meet, Peekskill (0-6) will host Ossining/Croton on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball
The Red Devils dropped to 1-6 on the season on Jan. 12, falling 85-58 to Horace Greeley on the road. Up next, Peekskill will host Carmel on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 6:15 p.m.

Peekskill Rotary to Host Super-Bowl Bowling Challenge Fundraiser Jan. 30
The Peekskill Rotary Club will host a Super-Bowl Bowling Challenge on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Hudson Lanes and Games. The community fundraiser will feature bowling, games, raffles, and friendly competition to support Rotary’s local initiatives.
The event is open to bowlers of all skill levels, as well as spectators. Tickets are $50 standard, $35 for bowling only, $20 for spectators/supporters, and $200 for groups of five. Participants must be 14 years or older.
