Inge Altrofer
Inge Altorfer passed away peacefully at the age of 97. Born in Tilsit, Germany, she later immigrated to the United States and made her home in Peekskill, New York, where she raised her family and enjoyed a career with Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Inge found joy in gardening, shopping, taking walks, traveling the world, and spending time with those she loved. Following her retirement, she embraced opportunities to visit many exotic destinations and create lasting memories. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey and Gregory Altorfer; her daughter-in-law, Barbaralynn Altorfer; and her grandson, Vallen Altorfer.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Peter Robert Bellet
Peter Robert Bellet, known to many as Pierre, was born in Le Havre, France on January 21, 1940.
He began his life of travel early, when his family moved to Algeria for some years, before returning to France, where he attended school in Le Havre. As a teenager, he crossed the channel to attend a boarding school in England, so that by the age of eighteen, he had already lived in three different countries.
Peter joined the United States Army in 1958, where he served in the military police, 25th Infantry Division, stationed in Hawaii. He was not there long, however, next being sent to Vietnam to act as a translator for the Army. Notice, that at this point, he had already been on four continents, all before the age of twenty-one. Life would continue to take Peter around the world, to West Virginia and California, where he would meet his first wife and his firstborn, also named Peter.
His work in hotel and restaurant management sent him to Zaire, Belgium, and Iran, but ultimately led him to New York, where he would finally settle down.
After meeting his wife, Maura in New York City, the two chose the sleepy hamlet of Montrose to build their new family in. Here, Peter had two more sons, Brian and Nicholas.
Peter and Maura would continue to travel the world together, but they would always return to their home in Montrose.
Despite being so well-traveled and a man of the world, Peter was always down to earth, treated people with warmth and kindness, and brought an easy-going sense of humor everywhere he went. He loved to make people happy, he embraced living life to its fullest, and he made many friends along the way.
After a long life of traveling across the face of this earth, he has returned to it and is now at rest.
Memorial Service was held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Interment took place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Verplanck, NY, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11 am.

Diana Heaton
Diana Sargent Heaton, age 84, long-time resident of Cortlandt Manor, New York, passed away on June 8, 2026.
Diana was born on March 22, 1942, to the late Rufus Barton Sargent and Katherine Dann Sargent in Barre, Vermont.
Diana was the dear wife of Clifton Heaton, loving mother of Eric (Nancy), David (Lucy), and Seth (Alison), and proud grandmother to Ryan, Thomas, Lillian, Karina, Eliza, Bryce, Aidan, Ronan, Abigael, and Sarah.
Diana was preceded in death by her beloved brother George Dann Sargent, a Rhodes Scholar and professor at Princeton and Amherst.
Diana was valedictorian and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont, in 1960. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA in American Literature from Middlebury College in 1964 and later acquired her master’s in education. Her favorite memories of college included conversations with the Poet Robert Frost, a visiting lecturer at Middlebury who befriended Diana and encouraged her writing. Soon after college, Diana married her High School sweetheart, Clifton, on July 18, 1964, at the Barre Congregational Church. Eschewing poetry, Diana began teaching fourth grade at the Traphagen School in Mount Vernon, New York, where Clifton taught High School. With the birth of her twin sons, Eric and David, in 1967, Diana committed herself for the next 20 years to her family – raising Eric, David, and Seth, before returning to work full-time in 1988, for 15 years, as a kindergarten teacher at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School in Croton, New York.
Diana was an avid reader and bridge player, with a remarkable memory and a quick wit. She was an active member and leader at the Peekskill Presbyterian Church, where she joined with Clifton in 1968, building deep friendships which lasted to the present day. It was in the Church, and as a matriarch, where she nurtured her greatest passion, her family.
She raised her sons with the credo of “whatever you do, do it well,” helping to positively shape them on their life journeys. Diana would go on to apply this same philosophy to her grandchildren, with whom she developed unique individual relationships with and lovingly adored.
Diana valued her family history, tracing direct descendance to a passenger arriving on the Mayflower in 1620. She treasured family traditions; from gathering the extended family on holidays, to annual vacations to the Maine shore, Diana believed these simple customs helped shape her family’s tight connections, while celebrating the lives they built together.
The family will receive friends at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY, on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Tremel Lamar Taylor Jr.
Tremel Lamar Taylor Jr., beloved son of Latoya Sylvia Scott and Tremel Lamar Taylor Sr., was born in Valhalla, New York on September 24, 2010. He departed this life on June 3, 2026 at the age of 15. Tremel Jr. is survived by his parents, his younger teenage brother Jayceon Maximus Taylor, his maternal grandparents Gregory Scott Sr. and Pamela Scott of Middletown, Delaware, and his paternal grandparents Jerome and Vernonia Taylor of Peekskill, New York. Tremel, a resident of Peekskill, New York, and affectionately called “Poppa, Lil Mel” by family, attended the private school Westchester School for Special Children in Westchester County’s North Salem School District. Even though he was 15 years old, the nickname “Lil Mel” held an amazing revelation. Tremel stood 6 feet 3 inches tall — the envy of any young teenage boy aspiring to become a basketball star.
Tremel was athletic, adventurous, and an outdoors person. Almost daily, you could find Tremel on a trampoline practicing tricks. He loved swimming, walking along the town’s riverfront, and hiking, as well as visiting farms and zoos. His current favorite song was a gold record hit from the 80s by the artist Phil Collins entitled “In The Air Tonight.”
Although Tremel Lamar Taylor Jr. (Poppa, Lil Mel) is no longer physically with us, we will forever carry him in our thoughts and hearts.
Tremel’s family was the center of his life. He leaves to mourn his passing his bereaved parents, brother, and maternal and paternal grandparents. His maternal aunts and uncle: Shanevea Carver, Middletown, DE; Olivia Scott, Montrose, NY; Gregory Scott Jr., Middletown, DE. Paternal uncles Marquee J. Taylor, Seattle, WA, and Justin D. Taylor of Peekskill, NY.
Great Uncle Ralph Parker Jr. of Irvington, NY; great-great-grandparent Janet Parker of Townsends, DE; great-great-grandfather Ralph Parker Sr. Great-great aunts and uncle: Bernice Hanemann (Richard) of Cortlandt Manor, NY; Barbara Shealy of Yonkers, NY; Hurley Shealy, Dover, DE; his great-great-great aunt Constance Hayes Mitchell of White Plains, NY.
Tremel also leaves to mourn his passing his great aunts Asiyah Muhee of Windsor, NC; Wanda Kettrell, Seattle, WA; Elizabeth Mason (Kenneth) of Tacoma, WA; Tina Chambers, Bronx, NY; Patsy Bennett of Oakland, CA; and Ida Taylor of Oakland, CA. Great uncles Justice Taylor (Pamela), Bronx, NY; Deshea Taylor (Dezarie) of Washington State. His paternal peer buddies and cousins Harmon Jaxsun and Isaiah Taylor. Maternal cousins Zyaisia Allen, Tyrell Carver Jr., and Ashton Carver. A host of cousins, relatives, extended family, and friends.
All will miss Tremel Lamar Taylor Jr., affectionately “Poppa, Lil Mel.” Yet, the greatest love of all is God, who miraculously redeemed Tremel from an inferno and brought him to himself whole.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Tremel’s life on Saturday, June 13, 2026. A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Homegoing Service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dwyer & Michael’s Funeral Home in Tarrytown, New York.
