Hen Hud has put its season-opening loss to Lakeland behind it with two wins in three days this week.

On April 6, Hen Hud defeated the Hudson River Trailblazers (Greenburgh-North Castle, Hastings), 41-6, in complete team effort. Quarterback Nicole Facciolo completed 6 of 9 passes for 121 yards, three touchdowns, and two extra points. Christina Barry completed two passes and rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown. Maria Ribeiro rushed for 18 yards and a touchdown, and added a 24-yard reception for a touchdown and an extra point.

Kate Stratton had two receptions and an extra point. Rachel Budde had one reception for 38 yards and a touchdown. Jonna Rivera had one reception for 11 yards. Charlotte Gaspar had one reception for 24 yards and a touchdown. Eighth graders Nella Smith (one reception for seven yards) and Samantha Nelson (one reception for 15 yards) also contributed. Nelson added two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown.

Defensively, Ribeiro had three sacks. Gaspar had an interception. Rodraya Pope had two sacks, including one for a safety. Kiehley Mulligan had an interception returned for a touchdown.

Hen Hud followed with a 13-0 shutout win over Bronxville on April 8. Facciolo completed 10 of 18 passes for 86 yards, one touchdown, and one extra point, and rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. Ribeiro rushed for 18 yards and had two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown. Stratton had six receptions for 44 yards. Arianna Byers had one reception for 18 yards. Elizabeth Calabro had one reception for three yards for an extra point.

On defense, Byers led the way with eight tackles. Pope had five tackles, including three for loss. Ribeiro had four tackles and two sacks. Gaspar had two interceptions. Marlee Picarello had one interception. Byers had eight tackles.

Hen Hud (3-1) will host Woodlands on Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m., host Dobbs Ferry on Monday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m., and travel to Irvington on Wednesday, April 15 at 5 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse

William Loftin and his Hen Hud varsity boys lacrosse team are in the win column, earning their first victory of the season with a 12-5 home win over Eastchester on April 4. The game also served a greater purpose, promoting mental health awareness in support of the 15 for Life Foundation — an organization “inspired by one man to save the lives of many.”

Captain Richie Simonetti led the offensive effort with three goals and two assists. Chris Barreiros (2G, 2A) and Vann Pastolove (2G, 1A) added balanced production, while Ruben Villeda and Lucas Beloff each scored twice. Ethan Walsh chipped in a goal, and Billy Magliano recorded an assist. Villeda also won 13 of 21 faceoffs for the Sailors, while Tim Palmer made five saves in goal.

Hen Hud’s April 8 matchup against Edgemont has been rescheduled for May 19.

Now sitting at 1-3, the Sailors will look to build momentum when they travel to Dobbs Ferry on Monday, April 13, for a 5 p.m. start at Springhurst Elementary School.

Girls Lacrosse

Although still searching for its first win, the young Hen Hud girls lacrosse squad continues to show heart and resilience in every matchup.

On April 4, the Sailors trailed 7–2 at halftime against Colonie Central High School of Albany but rallied to cut the deficit to 7–5 with 4:52 remaining in the third quarter. Colonie responded with another goal a minute later and maintained control from there, ultimately handing Hen Hud a 9–7 loss. Carleigh Ortiz led the offense with six goals and one assist, while Kinsley Steinhiser netted her first career goal and Bridget Couch added an assist. In goal, Kelsey Wong recorded 11 saves.

Hen Hud returned to action two days later, April 6, but fell 16–5 at home to Yorktown. The Sailors struck first less than a minute into the game on a goal by Steinhiser and battled to a 3–3 tie early on. However, Yorktown scored twice in the final minute of the first quarter to take a 5–3 lead and never looked back. Ortiz paced the team with three goals and two assists, while Couch and Steinhiser each added a goal. Couch also contributed two assists, and Wong finished with 11 saves.

The Sailors closed out their three-game homestand with a 16–7 loss to Mahopac. Ortiz and Steinhiser each scored three goals, Avery Cody added one, and Couch chipped in an assist. Wong made eight saves in net.

Hen Hud (0–6) will look to secure its first victory of the season on the road, traveling to Briarcliff on Saturday, April 11 at 4 p.m., and to John Jay-Cross River on Tuesday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Softball

Emma Barbelet recorded her 300th career strikeout in a 4-1 road win over Haldane on April 6. The senior went seven innings, allowing four hits and no earned runs while striking out 11. She also contributed at the plate, collecting two hits.

Bella Booth went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, Lillian Tomlinson was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and McKenna Silverman finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Jasmyne Kessler went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Angelina Carbone, Stella Krebser, Hope McKay, and Emma Johannsen each added a single. Johannsen also drove in a run.

The Sailors returned home on April 9 and shut out Westlake 3-0 at Frank G. Lindsey field. Booth had a single and an RBI, Carbone added a triple, and Johannsen contributed a single and an RBI. Silverman, Tomlinson, Krebser, Sophia Velardo, and Barbelet each added a hit. In the circle, Barbelet threw seven innings, allowing five hits and no earned runs while striking out six.

Up next, Hen Hud (4-0) travels to Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, April 11, with first pitch set for 3 p.m. The Sailors remain on the road Monday, April 13, against Edgemont at 4:30 p.m., before returning home to face Ardsley on Wednesday, April 15, also at 4:30 p.m.

Baseball

Hen Hud defeated Brewster 4-3 at home on April 4, with AJ Rambin delivering a walk-off hit that brought in Lucas Tangredi to secure the win. The Sailors then dropped a 7-5 decision to Byram Hills at home on April 7.

Hen Hud bounced back two days later, opening the Briarcliff Booster Club Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Yorktown on April 9. Rambin threw a complete-game shutout, while Max Perez supplied the go-ahead hit.

Now 3-3 on the season, Hen Hud continues tournament play on Saturday, April 11, at Briarcliff High School at 2 p.m., where the Sailors will face either Horace Greeley or Briarcliff. They will then travel to Pelham on Monday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m., followed by a road game at Lakeland on Wednesday, April 15, also at 4:30 p.m.

Track and Field

On April 7, Hen Hud hosted a quad meet against Haldane, Nanuet, and Yorktown, on a cold, windy afternoon.

On the boys’ track, Vivek Sekhri led the way with a win in the 400-meter dash in 54.51. Olivier Birotte placed third in 56.89. Birotte also took third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.51), followed by Taiten Robinson in fourth (17.37). Salpreme Taylor was sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.74), Kenneth Mora sixth in the 200-meter (25.48), and Cosmo Vogt fourth in the 1,600-meter run (5:04.69). The 4×100 relay team of Yamil Melendez, D’hadi Lovelace, Daniel Basini, and Matthew MacGilvray took first in 54.84, while the quartet of Anthony Rafferty, Michael Mannarino, Sam Mullo, and Peter Pappas placed second in 57.12.

In the field events, Melendez won the shot put (11.37m) and placed second in the discus (29.28m). MacGilvray was third (29.05m), followed by Basini in fourth (28.44m). William McKinley placed fourth in the high jump (1.52m). Hunter Kennedy-Brown took third in the long jump (5.80m), with Taylor fifth (5.54m). Sebastian Willkehr finished second in the pole vault (2.43m).

On the girls’ side, Elyse Smith placed second in the 100-meter dash (13.24) and third in the 200-meter (30.04). Michelle Ikokwu finished sixth in both the 100-meter dash (13.80) and 100-meter hurdles (20.42), while Alexis Smith was sixth in the 200-meter (30.80). Isabelle Carvalho took second in the 800-meter run (2:49.21), followed by Rachael Anderson in fourth (2:52.31).

In the field events, Harleigh Corcoran swept both the discus (25.24m) and shot put (8.06m). Mia Goodenow placed second in both events (discus 22.25m, shot put 7.85m), and Anderson won the pole vault (1.82m).

The following day, Hen Hud athletes competed in the 2026 Coach Sing Invitational at White Plains High School, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams delivered dominant performances, capturing the boys, girls, and combined team championships — the first in program history.

The boys scored 134 points to outpace second-place Archbishop Stepinac High School (100), while the girls finished with 130 points, narrowly edging Rye Country Day School (125).

On the boys’ track, Olivier Birotte won the 110-meter hurdles (16.22) and placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.36). Vivek Sekhri finished second in the 1,600-meter run (4:36.30), and Victor Delgado took second in the 3,200-meter (9:26.12). Perry Quaye placed fourth in the 100-meter (12.00) and third in the 200-meter (23.98), while Salpreme Taylor was fifth in the 100-meter (12.06). Taiten Robinson took second in the 110 hurdles (16.55) and fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:07.08). Kenneth Mora placed fourth in the 400-meter dash (54.62).

Relay highlights included a second-place finish in the 4×100 (46.88) by Quaye, Kennedy-Brown, Taylor, and Mora; third in the 4×400 (3:47.03) by Birotte, Robinson, Mora, and Juan Espinoza; and second in the 4×800 (8:49.78) by Valdez, Sekhri, Morley, and Delgado.

In the field, Hunter Kennedy-Brown won the long jump (6.14m), William McKinley won the triple jump (12.20m), Daniel Basini placed second in the discus (32.38m), Robinson was second in the high jump (1.60m), and Willkehr finished fourth in the pole vault (2.59m).

For the girls, Sophia Savatgy dominated with wins in both the 100-meter (12.46) and 200-meter (25.68). Oona McManus won the 1,500-meter (4:54.09), while Chloe Howard took the 1,500 race walk (7:47.03). Elyse Smith placed sixth in the 100-meter (13.70) and seventh in the 200-meter (29.67). Michelle Ikokwu was third in the 100 hurdles (19.63), with Alexis Smith sixth (21.33). Isabella Veloz placed fifth in the 400-meter (1:12.30), and Alexis Smith was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:22.64), followed by Danica Kostulas in fifth (1:25.87). Rachael Anderson placed fourth in the 800-meter (2:48.45), with Howard seventh (2:54.83). Carvalho finished fourth in the 1,500-meter (5:31.45), and Christine Morales was fourth in the race walk (9:51.27).

Relay highlights included a second-place finish in the 4×100 (52.48) by Smith, Ikokwu, Veloz, and Savatgy; second in the 4×400 (4:29.53) by McManus, Savatgy, Smith, and Veloz; and a win in the 4×800 (11:41.66) by Carvalho, Anderson, Howard, and Morales.

In the field events, Corcoran won both the discus (29.00m) and shot put (8.71m), and Maida Dapcevic won the javelin (19.86m).

Up next, Hen Hud Sailors will compete in the Dragon Relays on Saturday, April 11 at Cornwall High School, starting at 8:30 a.m., before traveling to Yorktown Huskers on Monday, April 13 for a 4:30 p.m. dual meet.

Boys Tennis 

Hen Hud fell to 1–2 on the season with a 4–1 home loss to Croton on April 9. The doubles team of Jacob Markovitch and Adrian Szostak opened strong with a 6–1 first-set win, dropped the second set 6–4, and then edged out a 10–8 victory in the deciding set.

The Sailors will next travel to Briarcliff on Friday, April 10, for a 4:30 p.m. match, and will remain on the road to face Ardsley on Monday, April 13, also at 4:30 p.m.

Golf

Hen Hud’s varsity golf team opened the 2026 season with a 263–284 loss to Haldane at Highlands Country Club. Sophomore Ryder Boston led the Sailors with a 48, while senior Nick DeFrenza carded a 53.

This year’s roster features six golfers: Boston, DeFrenza, freshmen Jack Lawless and Peter McNamee, eighth-grader Bryson Shirley, and senior Michael Socorro. The squad is led by head coach Derek Kisslinger.

The Sailors (0-1) return to action on Wednesday, April 15, against Putnam Valley at Putnam Golf Course at 4 p.m., followed by a rematch with Haldane on Thursday, April 16, at Hollow Brook Golf Club, also at 4 p.m.

Hen Hud girls basketball players named Lohud All-Stars

Kate Stratton was recently named to Lohud’s 2026 Westchester/Putnam Girls Basketball All-Star Second Team. The senior was a dominant force in the paint throughout the 2025-26 season, leading the Sailors to multiple victories with numerous double-digit scoring performances. Stratton capped off her standout season by earning All-League Most Valuable Player and All-Section honors. She has committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Division III SUNY Cortland come fall 2026.

Junior Maria Ribeiro and senior Elyse Smith were both recognized as honorable mentions. Ribeiro served as a steady and reliable presence at point guard, showcasing speed, strong footwork, and a high basketball IQ. Her importance to the team was especially evident after she suffered a midseason concussion, which disrupted the team’s rhythm, leading the Sailors to drop close games. Ribeiro earned All-League honors for her performances this season.

Smith, the team’s most explosive player and top defender, proved to be a dual threat — capable of attacking off the drive while also anchoring the defense to protect leads. Head coach Megan Boyle and her staff will face the challenge of replacing both Smith and Stratton next season. Smith concluded her senior campaign with All-League and All-Conference honors.

College Watch

Women’s Lacrosse — Division I On April 4, former Hen Hud standout Kayla McCarthy (Class of 2025) scored her first collegiate goal for Long Island University in a 15–3 win over Delaware State University.

Women’s Lacrosse — Division I In a 14-9 win over Central Michigan on April 4, Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Maddy Porter (Hen Hud Class of 2023) recorded 11 saves, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Her 11 saves tied for the fifth-highest total against a MAC opponent in program history, while her seven ground balls tied for sixth in all games and third in a MAC contest. With those ground balls, she reached 50 on the season, marking the third consecutive year she has hit that milestone.

Track and Field — Division I At the Cortland Red Dragon Open on April 3, Le Moyne’s Demetrius Wells (Hen Hud Class of 2024) placed fourth in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 13.45m (44’–2.75”).

Women’s Lacrosse — Division II St. Thomas Aquinas’ Victoria Calabro (Hen Hud Class of 2025) scored five goals in a 13-12 win over Felician on April 9.

Women’s Lacrosse — Division III On April 6, Meredith College’s Katherine Couch (Hen Hud Class of 2023) was named USA South Defensive Player of the Week after standout performances in back-to-back games. She totaled six caused turnovers, eight ground balls, and nine draw controls across wins over Methodist and Southern Virginia.

Riding — Division III Stella Allen (Hen Hud Class of 2023) qualified for the IHSA National Championships after winning the Individual Novice division for Skidmore College at the Zone 2 Finals on April 4.

Baseball — Division III Susquehanna University’s Michael Gagliardi (Hen Hud Class of 2023) had a strong two-game series against Moravian. On April 3, he went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base, while also recording two putouts and five assists in a 7-6 loss. On April 4, he followed with a 2-for-4 performance, including a triple, two RBIs, a run scored, a walk, and additional defensive contributions in a 7-3 win.
