Boys Soccer

The search for a win continues for Hen Hud’s varsity boys soccer team. On Sept. 27, the Sailors suffered a tough 4-0 road loss to Edgemont, their third straight defeat without finding the back of the net. Over that stretch against Byram Hills, Walter Panas, and Edgemont, Hen Hud has conceded 15 goals while being held scoreless. The team’s most recent victory came against Putnam Valley on Sept. 16.
Now 2-6-1, the Sailors will look to bounce back when they host John Jay Cross River on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. They will remain at home to face Byram Hills on Monday, Oct. 6, at 4:30 p.m., before traveling to Walter Panas on Wednesday, Oct. 8, for a 6 p.m. matchup.
Girls Soccer

On Sept. 27, Hen Hud girls soccer fell 4-1 on the road against Irvington. The team’s youth flashed moments of promise, with ninth grader Melina D’Itra netting her first varsity goal off an assist from fellow freshman Kinsley Steinhiser. Goalkeeper Ella Henderson tallied eight saves, including a double stop on Irvington’s second goal attempt before they converted on a third try, as well as three breakaway saves.
The Sailors struggled to recover in their next outing, suffering a 6-0 home loss to Pleasantville on Sept. 29 — their second defeat to the Panthers this season (the first was a 7-1 road loss on Sept. 10).
Hen Hud turned things around the very next day, Sept. 30, with a 2-0 home win over North Salem. Steinhiser broke the deadlock midway through the first half with a looping long-distance strike over the goalkeeper. Less than 10 minutes later, she doubled the lead with an even more impressive effort from further out. Steinhiser now leads the Sailors in goal contributions this season, with five goals and three assists.
Up next, Hen Hud (2-7) visits Westlake on Friday, Oct. 3, at 4:30 p.m., then hosts Nanuet on Monday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m. The Sailors will host Sleepy Hollow on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 4:45 p.m., and travel to Edgemont on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 4:30 p.m.
Football
Hen Hud dropped to 2-2 on the season after falling 41-16 to Pleasantville on Sept. 26. The matchup, designated as a first responders game, turned into a tough night at home for the Sailors.
For Hen Hud, Kane Wamack went 7-for-11 passing for 104 yards and a touchdown. Justin Parks paced the Sailors’ offense with 11 carries for 94 yards and a score, while also hauling in four receptions for 86 yards and another touchdown. Hunter Kennedy-Brown added a catch for 11 yards, along with nine tackles and a forced fumble on defense. Ethan Walsh tallied eight tackles, including one for loss, and Liam Urezzio chipped in with six tackles.
The Sailors will host Haldane for their next matchup on Friday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m.
Field Hockey

After an eight-day break, the Hen Hud field hockey team returned to action on Sept. 26 with a narrow 1-0 road victory over Walter Panas. Chloe Haseltine put the Sailors on the board in the first quarter, finishing off an assist from Nicole Facciolo. Senior Maddie Little also stood out with her composure and leadership throughout the game.
Four days later, on Sept. 30, Hen Hud fell 3-1 at home to Clarkstown South. Trailing 3-0 late in the fourth quarter, Facciolo broke through with the Sailors’ lone goal. Goalkeeper Kelsey Wong turned in a strong performance with nine saves.
The Sailors (3-2-2) will now host Arlington on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m, before away matches against Rye Neck on Monday, Oct. 6, and Byram Hills on Tuesday, Oct. 7 — both set to start at 5:15 p.m.
Girls Volleyball
On Sept. 27, Hen Hud fell on the road to Pearl River, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, and 25-14). The Sailors bounced back two days later with a dominant 3-0 home victory over Haldane on Sept. 29, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-9, and 25-8.
Julia Nelson led Hen Hud with nine kills, six assists, and six aces, while Anabel Delgado added 10 assists, four digs, and a kill. Valerie Colina contributed eight digs and seven aces. Zoe Santana chipped in with seven digs, four assists, and an ace.
Hen Hud now sits at 5-6. They’ll face Sleepy Hollow on the road Monday, Oct. 6, at 6:15 p.m., before traveling to Blind Brook on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 4:30 p.m., and Irvington on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Volleyball
Croton/Briarcliff/Hen Hud experienced a mixed week, splitting a pair of matches. On Sept. 26, the co-op squad dropped only its second contest of the season, falling to Yorktown, 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, and 9-15). Hen Hud’s Will McKinley turned in a season-high performance, with 14 kills and five blocks. Teammate Anthony Davis added 12 kills, while Croton’s Julian Chinn contributed eight kills and five blocks. Croton’s Oscar Thoreson chipped in seven kills and three blocks, and Hen Hud’s Phoenix Hunt anchored the offense with 36 assists, four kills, and two blocks.
Just three days later, on Sept. 29, the team bounced back in commanding fashion, sweeping Somers, 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, and 25-14). Thoreson led the way with 11 kills on 15 hits and three aces. Chinn once again tallied eight kills and five blocks, while Croton’s Yanik Ekambaram added 13 service points, two kills, and two blocks. Hunt dished out 14 assists and added three kills, with Davis recording 12 digs and eight kills. McKinley had 15 digs while also posting nine service points and three blocks. Croton’s Jax Weintraub rounded out the effort with 14 assists.
Croton/Briarcliff/Hen Hud (6-2) returns to the court on Friday, Oct. 3, to face Greenburgh at Hendrick Hudson High School at 5 p.m. The matchup will also serve as senior night for Hen Hud’s players. The team will travel to Sleepy Hollow on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 5 p.m., and Ossining on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m.
Cross Country
Hen Hud cross country athletes turned in standout performances at the 2nd Annual Admiral Harrier Invitational, led by senior Victor Delgado, who cruised to his third major invitational victory of the season. Delgado set a personal record with a time of 15:16.50 in the boys 5,000-meter run — finishing nearly 40 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
His performance helped lift the boys team to a sixth-place finish out of 24 schools. Other top results included Joshua Weinstein (23rd, 16:57.40), Vivek Sekhri (27th, 17:05.20), and Jackson Morley (48th, 17:41.20).
On the girls side, Hen Hud placed ninth overall, paced by Oona McManus, who finished 25th in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 21:00.90. Isabelle Carvalho (42nd, 22:15.20) and Rachael Anderson (43rd, 22:15.60) followed close behind.
The Sailors continued their strong showing at a Sept. 30 tri-meet against Haldane and Yorktown at Croton Point Park. Delgado once again claimed first in the boys 5,000-meter run, clocking in at 17:02.10. Weinstein (3rd, 18:29.70) and Sekhri (4th, 18:35.30) rounded out Hen Hud’s top three.
For the girls, McManus earned second place in 21:39.30, with Carvalho (3rd, 22:29.70) and Chloe Howard (5th, 23:34.20) also having key finishes for the Sailors.
Hen Hud now looks ahead to its league meet on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Croton Point Park.
Girls Tennis

Hen Hud notched two recent victories, edging Briarcliff 3-2 on Sept. 26 and defeating Pleasantville 4-1 on Sept. 29. The Sept. 29 matchup also marked senior night for Hen Hud, with Emma Barbelet, Emma Johannsen, and Katherine Devine recognized for their contributions.
The Sailors (6-2) return to action at home on Monday, Oct. 6, against Keio at 4:30 p.m. They’ll then hit the road for back-to-back away games — at Rye Neck on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and at the Leffell School in Hartsdale on Thursday, Oct. 9, both at 4:30 p.m.
Girls Swimming
Tsunami (Briarcliff, Byram Hills, Pleasantville, Valhalla, and Westlake) defeated Croton/Hen Hud, 50-38, on Sept. 26 at Mildred Strang Middle School.
Up next, Croton/Hen Hud (0-4) will travel to Hommocks Middle School in Larchmont to face Blind Brook/Rye/Rye Neck on Friday, Oct. 3, at 4:30 p.m. The co-op team will then return to Yorktown to take on John Jay Cross River/North Salem at Mildred Strang on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 4:30 p.m.
Other News
Beau Morki Officially Joins Hen Hud School District

Over the next three months, Beau Morki will serve as transitional administrator of K–12 physical education, health, and athletics, working alongside longtime athletic director Tom Baker, who will retire at the end of the year. Baker’s departure will mark the conclusion of a 32-year career at Hen Hud — 24 of those years as athletic director.
On Jan. 1, 2026, Morki will step into his permanent role as director of physical education, health, and athletics.
Athletes Kick Off Unified Flag Football Season with the Giants
Hen Hud athletes, along with students from five other schools, visited MetLife Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 30, for the season kickoff of Section One unified flag football. The event was hosted by the New York Giants, with Super Bowl champion Eli Manning and current Giants players leading the clinic.

Participants were welcomed with refreshments, followed by a meet-and-greet with players and team photo opportunities.
Unified Champion Schools, a Special Olympics initiative, brings together students with and without disabilities to play on the same teams and take physical education courses side by side. The program also emphasizes inclusive leadership, encouraging students to organize campaigns and activities that engage the entire school community in fostering inclusion, according to Special Olympics New York.
Hen Hud’s new unified flag football team, led by Will Loftin, is the school’s third Section One–sanctioned Unified program, joining bowling in the winter and basketball in the spring. The team held its first practice on Monday, Sept. 15.
