The weekly run organized by Run PB Peekskill will take on special significance next week. The community group of runners and walkers will dedicate its Wednesday, June 17 gathering to the celebration of Pride Month. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at River Outpost Brewing, located at 5 John Walsh Blvd., and is open to both experienced runners and those who prefer to walk. The initiative aims to provide an evening of fellowship and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
According to information published by Run PB on its digital platforms, participants in each gathering start from a designated location and head toward the Peekskill waterfront to complete a flexible route designed for all ability levels. Runners complete a longer course, while walkers follow a shorter version of the route. The activity concludes with a social gathering among participants, a tradition intended to strengthen connections between new and longtime members of the group.
For next Wednesday’s edition, the colors of the rainbow flag were incorporated into the event invitation, which has so far received a positive response. Pride Month is a celebration observed each June to recognize the history, diversity and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community. The relationship between Run PB and Pride celebrations is not new. In 2025, the group organized the recreational Peekskill’s Got Pride Color Run, a charitable event developed in collaboration with other local organizations.
Run PB’s event also coincides with other community initiatives taking place throughout the city during Pride Month, including performances of The Normal Heart at Studio Theater in Exile, scheduled from June 12 through June 28, and the sixth annual Family Pride in the Park, which will take place Saturday, June 27, at Pugsley Park with live music, drag performances, children’s activities, crafts, vendors and other family-friendly attractions.
