On Saturday, May 9, the Hudson River will be the setting for more than a sunset cruise; it will become an act of collective recognition. In Peekskill, the Kimberly Seger Charity Foundation will host Healing on the Hudson: In Her Wake, a cruise designed to honor and support healthcare workers and first responders who, day after day, face high levels of stress and emotional burden.
The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. aboard the Emerald Princess. Boarding will take place at 1 John Walsh Blvd. The initiative was created as a space for relaxation, connection and recognition for workers, in a welcoming and respectful environment, with the goal of expressing gratitude to those who serve the community in critical moments.

The cruise is organized as a comprehensive experience and will include light bites, a cash bar, DJ music, casino tables, a 50/50 raffle and activities focused on emotional well-being. In addition, there will be special entertainment and a meet and greet with Patty and Patty, a comedy duo known for their style inspired by middle-aged Italian American characters in New York.
The project responds to a well-documented reality: the cumulative impact of workplace stress in sectors such as healthcare and emergency services. In Her Wake is a community response to these professions, not only as a way to recognize that strain, but also to create spaces for relief and support.
The honored groups will receive incentives to make participation more accessible. Tickets will be offered at a 50 percent discount using the codes HEALTHCARE2026 or FIRSTRESPONDERS2026. Identification verification is required to access these offers. Additionally, there will be discounts for individuals aged 65 and older.
Tickets are available at an early bird promotional price of $75 through May 8. On the day of the event, the general admission price will be $85 per person. Admission is free for children under 3. Capacity for the cruise is limited, so organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance. The event is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing mission of the foundation, which works to assist those facing physical and emotional strain in service professions. The combination of leisure and social cause seeks to attract both direct beneficiaries and members of the community interested in supporting the initiative.
The Kimberly Seger Charity Foundation will continue its calendar of activities with community and fundraising events on July 2, when it will host its second annual golf outing at The Links at Sprain Lake Golf Course, a day that combines sport and support for the cause. Later, on Oct. 22, the family-friendly Trunk or Treat event will take place at Cortlandt Colonial Restaurant & Ballroom.
Finally, on Oct. 24, the organization will present its third annual gala, Her Light After Dark, an evening dedicated to honoring compassion, care and Kimberly’s enduring legacy. For more information about these events, interested individuals may visit the organization’s official website.
