Peekskill will be the site of its first spring running race. Residents of the city are invited to “shake off those winter blues” and take part in the initiative scheduled for Saturday, April 25. After months of cold weather, the arrival of milder conditions will coincide with the Run PB’s Spring into Running event.
This will be the first edition of the race, organized by the community collective Run PB, a local group of runners that has promoted running for years as a space for gathering in Peekskill. River Outpost Brewing will also serve as the host venue for the event.

The meeting point for participants will be 5 John Walsh Blvd., along the waterfront. The start and finish lines will be located at River Outpost Brewing. The day will begin at 10 a.m. The race will be a 5K, designed on a flat course that will follow the scenic Peekskill Riverfront. Organizers have shared that the event is suitable for experienced runners as well as those who are just beginning. Registration will cost $38.10 (including fees) through April 24.
Among the participation requirements, attendees must be 21 years of age or older. However, at the conclusion of the race — approximately at 11 a.m. or once the last participant crosses the finish line — the Kids Fun Run will begin, a free race aimed at younger children. Additionally, during both events, organizers will provide a waiting and warm-up area at Spins Hudson.
The activity aims to bring the community together and encourage intergenerational connections. The details of Run PB’s Spring into Running are designed with families in mind. Adult participants will receive a token for a beverage. In addition, River Outpost Brewing will offer breakfast to share with family and friends during the afterparty.
The first 100 registrants for the 5K will receive official race shirts. Distribution of the shirts will take place on the day of the event between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Another logistical detail is that the venue includes nearby parking, although the venue is also within walking distance from the Peekskill Metro-North station.
In addition to the April 25 program, Run PB maintains other ongoing initiatives, including weekly running and walking meetups held year-round — regardless of weather — along the Peekskill waterfront. The collective also organized the Peekskill’s Got Pride Color Run in June 2025 to commemorate Pride Month. For more information about these events, readers may consult the collective’s website.
