Leslie Anne Hand

Leslie Anne Hand passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 5, 1954, in the borough of Queens, New York City, to Robert and Miriam Eidlitz. Leslie attended SUNY Brockport, where she studied social work and went on to build a career devoted to caring for others. She was deeply compassionate and found great fulfillment in helping and advocating for her patients.
Leslie is survived by her children, Samantha (Frank), and their children Devin, Riley, and Taylor; and Zachary (Carly), and their children Amelia and Ava. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Garry.
Leslie loved spending time with family and friends, especially during trips to the beach in Long Beach Island, New Jersey, a place that brought her great joy and many cherished memories. She delighted in being a grandmother and treasured every moment with her grandchildren – often spoiling them with hugs, laughter, and the occasional piece of chocolate.
Leslie also enjoyed the simple comforts of home and the companionship of her beloved cat, Chloe. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the deep love she had for her family.

James Vincent Hickey Jr.

James V. Hickey, Jr., 79, of Peekskill, NY, passed away on March 16, 2026, at home with family by his side.
Born to James V. Hickey, Sr. and Rose Bonavita on July 15, 1946, Jim was a proud graduate of Peekskill High School. He continued on to study accounting and Greek philosophy at Utica College of Syracuse University. Jim had a distinguished career, culminating with his role as vice president and chief financial officer at Degussa Engineered Carbons in Parsippany, NJ.
Jim loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. He ventured through Europe, the Middle East, and across the United States, returning home with countless stories that filled every room he entered. He lived by the belief, “Life is a journey, not a destination. Don’t miss out on the adventures.”
An avid reader, Jim had a passion for mysteries and thrillers. He was equally at home on the golf course, where he shared the game with his wife, Linda. He was also a devoted fisherman and enjoyed crabbing on the Hudson. Jim had an impeccable sense of humor and was a riveting storyteller, known for his quick wit and memorable limericks.
Above all, Jim cherished his family. He married the love of his life, Linda Travis, on September 28, 1968, and celebrated 43 years together until her passing in 2012. He was a loving father to his three children, Edward Hickey, of Peekskill; Jolene (Vincent “Boo”) Vesce, of Mooresville, NC; and Melissa (Derek) Kisslinger, of Cold Spring, and a devoted grandfather to Gianna, Vincent, Kyle, James, John, and Sophia.
He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Joseph T. (Lisa) Hickey, of Hilton Head, SC, and his sister, Rosemarie (Kenny) Pryor, of Malibu, CA, as well as his four nephews, Joseph, Kevin (Jordan), Sean, and Patrick.
Jim was a devout Catholic, a beloved parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #462.
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY, on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 10:15 am.
Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit, Cortlandt Manor.

Louise Eleanor McGovern

Louise Eleanor (Flemming) McGovern passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026.
She was born on December 19, 1935, in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York City, to Henry August and Julia (Wallace) Flemming. She married Patrick J. McGovern on April 4, 1964, and they were married for 46 years until Patrick’s passing in 2010.
She attended nursing school at the Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse in June of 1956. She served as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Peekskill Community Hospital from 1968 through 1999.
Louise is survived by her children Patrick (Alice) with grandchildren Quinn, Brendan, and Gregory; Michael (Michele) with grandchildren Jacob (Andrea) Pidgeon and Emily Pidgeon; Kevin (Denise) with grandchildren Stella, William, and James; and Mary (Douglas) Andress with grandchildren Jeremy (River) and with great-grandchildren Indie, Gavin, Santana, Maverick, and Archer, Trevor (Emili), Gemma-Rose (Carlos) Cuacuas, Colton, and Ash
Louise enjoyed outings to casinos and traveling with family and friends to destinations like Alaska, Rhode Island, Florida, and Maine. She loved crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. Louise was known for her sharp, dry wit, which she maintained through her last days. In her later life Louise was cared for by her granddaughter Gemma and her husband Carlos in her home in Cortlandt Manor, NY, where she always shared her leftovers with her grandpuppy Larry.

Lorraine G. Vezina

Lorraine G. Vezina of Mahopac, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She was 93 years of age, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Peekskill, NY, on December 14, 1932, to John and Florence Galati.
Lorraine attended schools in Peekskill, NY, and went on to graduate from Peekskill High School in 1950.
After high school, Lorraine attended the State Teachers College of New Paltz, NY, where she was a member of the Alpha Kappa Phi fraternity.
On March 20, 1954, she married her husband, Donald W. Vezina.
She then went on to teach the blind braille for three school districts: Hendrick Hudson, Lakeland, and Peekskill. Lorraine then went on to teach at the Mahopac Elementary School system for 25 years.
Lorraine became an active member of the American Association of University Women throughout her teaching career.
After retiring, she and her husband, Donald, became members of the Peekskill Yacht Club.
She is survived by her three sons: Donald W. Vezina Jr. (Nannette) of Peekskill; Richard W. Vezina (Patti) of Purdys, NY; and Rodney J. Vezina of Surfside Beach, SC. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Tyler Vezina, Trevor Vezina, Donald Vezina III, and Melissa, as well as two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Vezina; by her four brothers Salvatore Galati, Joe Galati (Ceil), Anthony Galati (Jerry), Frank Galati (Virginia); and by her three sisters Genevie Palmer (Vincent), Audrey Cothren (Harry), Althea Snowden (Bill), and sister-in-law Vivien Weiler (Ralph).
Visitation will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Chapel Service will be held at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
