Dave Parsons, a life member of the Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps died Tuesday. He was 68 years old. He served as Chief, then known as Captain, from 1988-1992. He was also the former chief of the Harrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

Family will receive visitors at the Curry & Giordano Funeral Home, 313 N. James Street today, Thursday,  from 3 -7 p.m. and a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 on Friday at Church of the Assumption. 

Known for his teaching abilities, he instructed numerous EMT-B, CPR and First Aid courses in Westchester and Putnam counties and was a member of the Westchester County Crisis Intervention Team. A 1972 graduate of Peekskill High School, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Ft. Campbell, KY, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. In 1980 he was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard and was employed by Reader’s Digest in Chappaqua.  After an early retirement, he turned his attention to his developing passion in the Emergency Medical Services field. 

Born on May 19, 1953 to Robert and Anne (Anderson) Parsons in Manhattan, his family moved to Peekskill two years later. In November of 1974 he married Jane Wilson and had three children: Tammie, Kristy and David Jr. He is survived by his wife and children, all of Peekskill along with three grandchildren: Andrew Parsons, Jacob and Jenna Shurak; a sister, Sharon Thacke of Ossining and brother Robert Parsons of Ridgefield.
