Softball
On Friday, May 30, top-seeded Albertus Magnus edged No.3 Hen Hud, 3-2, to claim the Section 1 Class A softball championship at the Town of Haverstraw Sports Complex.
Despite the loss, Hen Hud pushed the Falcons to the limit. The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning, when Emma Barbelet drove in Kiely Morley with an RBI groundout to give the Sailors a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Albertus Magnus responded as Vanessa Gonzalez delivered a clutch three-run double, putting the Falcons ahead 3-1.

Hen Hud continued to battle. In the sixth, Stella Krebser singled to right field, scoring McKenna Silverman to pull the Sailors within one at 3-2. But that was as close as the Sailors would get, as the Falcons held on to secure the title.
Final stats for the Sailors include: Kiely Morley 1-for-3, one run scored, and a walk, Aneglina Carbone 3-for-4, Janae Walker 1-for-3 with a walk, Emma Barbelete 1-for-3 with a RBI, Stella Krebser 1-for-3 with a RBI, McKenna Silverman with a run scored and two walks. Bella Booth one single.
With the win, Albertus Magnus advances to the regional final on Saturday, June 7.
The following week, Section 1 coaches recognized several Sailors with postseason honors. Barbelet and Walker earned All-Section, while Carbone was named an honorable mention.
Hen Hud finishes the 2025 season with an overall record of 15-7 and will bid farewell to seniors Kiely Morley and Janae Walker.
“We had an exciting season,” said head coach John Glashoff to the Peekskill Herald. “Losing the sectional final was disappointing for us all but the girls will look back at the run we had and realize what a fun and special time it was.”
He added,“Best wishes to Janae and Kiely as they move on to their next chapter. They will do great things. We will be returning a lot of girls but those two will be missed.”
