“I am thankful to all the Class C coaches for awarding me this honor,” Solomon told the Herald. “I am very fortunate to coach great young women who compete at the highest level and love to coached and pushed to be their best.”
He also acknowledged the efforts of his assistant. “I could not have done any of this without the help of my assistant coach Dina Bertoline, who does so much behind the scenes.”
Hen Hud now advances to the regional final, where they’ll face Section 4 champion Owego Free Academy on Saturday, May 31, at 3:30 p.m. at Tappan Zee High School.
Owego enters the matchup as a formidable opponent. Coached by John Virkler, the Owego River Hawks finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record and are coming off a dominant 44-6 win over Susquehanna Valley to claim the Class C title. They followed that up with a 38-7 victory over Rhinebeck (Section 9) to reach the regional championship.

Riding an unbeaten streak that dates back to April 14 and armed with momentum as Class C champions, Hen Hud looks poised to put up a strong fight. The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the New York State Final Four in Cortland next week.
