It may be hard to believe but the postseason has arrived — and four teams are making their push to keep the season alive.
Flag Football
Hen Hud punched its ticket to the Section 1 Class C championship final on Wednesday, May 21, beating Westlake/Briarcliff in the semifinals, 39-18.
The Sailors were led by Lucy Mager, who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown, and also passed for 238 yards and five touchdowns. Kaitlyn Raguso was the team’s leading receiver, hauling in 10 catches for 82 yards and four touchdowns. Kate Stratton added three receptions for 67 yards, Maria Ribeiro had three receptions for 45 yards, and Jonna Rivera chipped in with two receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Stratton, Ribeiro, Sasha Lemus Villeda, and Oakley Gougelmann all turned in strong performances to help secure the win.
The top-seeded Sailors will face No. 2 Ardsley in the Class C championship game on Saturday, May 24, at 4 p.m. at Lakeland High School. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the event or in advance here.
Boys Lacrosse
On May 17, Hen Hud played its final game of the regular season against Brewster, and won 9-4. Drew Hiltsley led the Sailors with four goals, while James McManus and Richie Simonetti added two apiece. McManus and Ethan Walsh each recorded two assists. In goal, Aidan Mazzoni made 21 saves.
Riding a three-game winning streak, the Sailors earned the No.8 seed in Class C and hosted John Jay Cross River in the first round of sectionals on Thursday, May 22. Despite a strong performance from Mazzoni, who tallied 27 saves, Hen Hud couldn’t overcome a tough John Jay squad and fell, 11-3. McManus scored two goals in the loss.
Following the game, head coach Troy Lepore told the Herald, “I’d like to thank our seniors for all they’ve done over the past four years. Not the result we wanted but hoping there have been lessons learned throughout our time together that can help them be successful in life. There’s no doubt that they will be.”
The Sailors conclude the season with an overall record of 8-9 and will bid farewell to nine graduating seniors as they look to rebuild for next year.
Girls Lacrosse
Hen Hud’s varsity girls lacrosse team heads into the postseason on the heels of back-to-back losses.
On May 17, Hen Hud fell 19-12 to Ursuline on the road. Gianna Gagliardi tallied a team-high seven points, scoring five goals and assisting two. Carleigh Ortiz contributed three goals and two assists, while Paige Montgomery added two goals and an assist. Mia Dietz recorded seven saves in goal.
Two days later, on May 19, the Sailors came up short against Mahopac, 17-13. Despite the loss, the game marked a special milestone for sophomore Carleigh Ortiz, who tallied three goals and an assist to reach 100 career points. Offensively, Montgomery led the team with five goals, while Kayla McCarthy added three goals and two assists.
Next up, No. 10 seed Hen Hud (5-11) will face No.7 Eastchester in the first round of sectionals on Friday, May 23. The game is scheduled to be played at Eastchester High School at 5 p.m. The winner will advance to face No.2 Rye in the quarterfinals next week.
Softball
Hen Hud Softball wrapped up its regular season with a pair of narrow losses last week.
On May 16, the Sailors hosted John Jay Cross River and lost, 8-7. Emma Johannsen led the team, going 2-for-2 with two doubles. Janae Walker was 1-for-3 with three RBI. Angelina Carbone chipped in with a double, going 1-for-2. Stella Krebser contributed a triple, and both Bella Booth and Emma Barbelet recorded a hit and a RBI.
The following day, May 17, Hen Hud traveled to Ardsley and came up short in a 3-2 loss. Carbone provided a highlight for the Sailors with a home run and a RBI. McKenna Silverman tallied two hits and a RBI.
Despite the setbacks, Hen Hud (13-6) secured enough wins to earn the No. 3 seed in Class A and a first round bye in sectional playoffs. The Sailors will return to action on Saturday, May 24, when they host a quarterfinal match against the winner of No. 6 Nanuet versus No.11 Westlake, scheduled for May 23..
Baseball
The 2025 baseball season has come to an end for Hen Hud.
On May 17, the No. 15-seeded Hen Hud opened the postseason with a 6-2 home win over No. 18 Sleepy in an outbracket (play-in) game. However, their playoff run was short-lived. Two days later, on May 19, Hen Hud faced powerhouse No.2 Rye in the first round of sectionals and fell 15-1.
Hen Hud finishes with an overall record of 6-16. The Sailors will lose four seniors to graduation this year.
Spring Track
Hen Hud delivered several standout performances at last weekend’s Westchester County Championships.
For the boys, Victor Delgado earned a third-place finish in the 1,600-meter run, setting a new school record with a time of 4:18.05. He also finished seventh out of 47 athletes in the 800-meter run at 2:00.83. Perry Quaye secured third in the high jump with a mark of 1.83 meters, while freshman Taiten Robinson had a second-place finish in the pentathlon, totaling 2,365 points. The relay team of Delgado, Sebastian Soto, Juan Espinoza, and Vivek Sekhir, finished fifth in the 4×800-meter relay at 8:40.99.
On the girls’ side, Chloe Howard earned second-place in the 1,500-meter race walk in 7:54.51. Sophia Savatgy was second in the 100-meter dash (12:35) and fourth in the 200-meter (25.52). According to head coach Marcia Bailey, both times broke Savatgy’s own school records set earlier this season. In addition, Maida Dapcevic finished fourth in the javelin throw at 26.92 meters.
Next week, Hen Hud will host the Steeplechase Sectionals on Tuesday, May 27, and the Class B Championships on Wednesday, May 28.
Boys Tennis
Bradley Fredman’s varsity boys tennis team finished their season on May 17 with a 3-0 loss to Byram Hills in the sectional quarterfinals. Byram Hills went on to capture the Division II Championship with a win over Edgemont on May 20. Hen Hud will lose eight seniors this year to graduation.
College Watch

Hendrick Hudson Athletic Director Tom Baker hosted the Class of 2025’s Student-Athlete College Commitment Ceremony on May 20, at the high school gymnasium. According to a press release by the district, the event recognized graduating seniors who plan on participating in NCAA athletics while attending college.
