This weekend Peekskill will be hopping with activity all over the City. The weekend holds so many things to do it will be hard to pick which ones to attend. From new mural unveilings, to full stage productions at Peekskill High School, to Turkey Trots and Community Thanksgiving Dinners, there is something to do for everyone this weekend!

 

On Friday, November 17th, three events kick off the weekend. 

At 4:00 p.m., Arts 10566 will host a brand new mural unveiling created by Peekskill City Youth at the the Lisa Rolleri Family Resource Center located at 400 Division Street just one block down from Peekskill High School and the PCSD Administration Building.

Beginning at 8:00 p.m., Lewis Black makes his triumphant return to the Paramount in his Off The Rails tour. To get tickets to the almost sold out show, visit Paramount Hudson Valley.

 

Saturday, November 18th is so chock full of fun, that you will want to find that heavenly coffee to keep you running as you head over to one of these many events. Grab a cup from “Peekskill’s Living Room” at the Peekskill Coffee House who just celebrated their 20th Birthday.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. you can strut your stuff Trotting a Turkey at the 2023 Annual Turkey Trot benefitting CHHOP and Fred’s Pantry. To find out more or register to run, visit  here.

Also beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 pm, is the last Peekskill Farmers Market of the season on Bank Street. Grab fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, bread, eggs, honey, olives, pickles, prepared foods, healthy drinks, soaps, artisan creations and other favorites.

From 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there is a Free Pop Up Shop for people in need by MendByMe at the Peekskill Elks Lodge located at 1038 Brown Street. At this event, Mend ByMe Pop Up Shop offers people in need a diverse range of gently used, cleaned goods, including clothing, shoes, toys, kitchen items, accessories, personal items for men, women and children and much more. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., Peekskill Recreation will host a Turkey Foul Shooting Contest at the Peekskill Middle School Gymnasium. In the free event, participants have the opportunity to win a Thanksgiving Turkey. At this event, participants will be divided into different age groups and drop as many foul shots in a row in an attempt to be the number one and walk away not only with bragging rights but with a big turkey. Age groups include 8-10 yrs old, 11-13 yrs old, 14-17 yrs old, 18-25 yrs old and 26 yrs & up. In each age group, one female and one male from each age group will win a free gobbler.

At 3:00 p.m., Rock and Roll’s finest and most versatile entertainers, Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will be playing at the Paramount Hudson Valley. Tickets are still available. Visit Paramount Hudson Valley for tickets and more information.

Twice on Saturday, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., the Peekskill High School Drama Club presents the final performances of Get Smart

 

 

Finally on Sunday, November 19th, Peekskillites have the opportunity to shop for some holiday presents at the final Flea Market of the Season and then head down one block and head over to the 2nd annual Peekskill Thanksgiving Community Dinner and enjoy a meal.

From 8:00 am – 4:00pm, the final Peekskill Flea Market of the season will occur on Bank Street. For a few dollars, grab some great pickings ad get a few holiday gifts for yourself or for others and spread cheer throughout the holidays.

From 8:00 am to Noon, the final Free Pop Up Shop for people in need by MendByMe at the Peekskill Elks Lodge. Finally, from 1:00 – 8:00 pm, join all of Peekskill at the 2nd Annual Peekskill Community Thanksgiving Dinner held this year in honor of Peekskill Police Officer Greg Jones.. The Red Door Creative Space opens their doors for the entire day for anyone from the community to come together, catch up, share stories, laugh, and dine over great food. There will be activities for kids, great music, great food and beverages. Best of all, the event is FREE, open to the entire community and everyone from all ages is welcome. A 1999 graduate of PHS, he remembers reading and enjoying the original weekly print edition of the Peekskill Herald every Thursday. An avid hiker, he enjoys exploring the local trails as well as the concrete ones in his job as a conductor for Metro North Railroad.
