Private studios, galleries, alternative exhibition spaces and cultural centers will once again open their doors to the public during the 27th annual Open Studios. Organized by Peekskill Arts Alliance. The event will bring together more than 100 artists represented throughout Peekskill. The open-house weekend, beginning at noon, will take place Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7.
The tours, which will continue until 5 p.m., are considered a signature event of the local arts community. Open Studios allows residents, visitors, collectors and art enthusiasts to step directly into artists’ workspaces. The initiative offers an opportunity to view works in progress, observe a variety of creative techniques and speak with artists about the ideas and methods that shape their work.
The route will include artists’ studios located in the heart of the city, as well as group exhibitions and alternative venues that expand the experience beyond private workspaces. Among them is Off the Beaten Track, an exhibition at SUNY-Peekskill featuring two-dimensional, three-dimensional and multimedia works, as well as video screenings in the main gallery.
Another participating venue will be Tent Site Gallery, located in the parking lot on Central Avenue, east of Division Street and across from Bruised Apple Book Store. The site will showcase paintings, jewelry, clothing, wood engravings, photography and other works created by artists and artisans from the region.

The event will also incorporate an extensive network of cultural spaces throughout the city. Visitors will be able to explore The Flat Iron Gallery, New Era Creative Space, Gauchos Restaurant, JO’s Body Shop, Third Eye Arts, Division Street Grill and The Field Library. Outside the downtown area, Hat Factory and Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art (HVMOCA) will also participate, where all exhibitions will be free during Open Studios.
The program extends beyond indoor spaces. The city is also home to public artworks that are part of Peekskill’s cultural landscape, including murals, illuminated sculptures and permanent installations located along avenues, in parks and on public buildings. Among them are Luminated Rhythm, A Day in The Park, Did You Hear?, The Five Arches Mural, The Abolitionists, Shared Light, Wind Farm and Open Doors.
Peekskill Arts Alliance also noted in its communications that Open Studios is designed to be easy to navigate. Visitors will be able to obtain printed maps and informational materials at the information tent located at the corner of North Division Street and Central Avenue. In addition, a digital guide will be available featuring the locations of participating artists and galleries, along with images of the works on display.
The weekend experience is summarized in the slogan “Where Art Lives: Peekskill’s Open Studios.” Organizers emphasize that the initiative moves “From studio to street and with art in every corner” as it celebrates its 27th year of opening artists’ workspaces to the public.
