To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for the Safe Roads Act (A10639) and to share my concerns about the current condition of roads in our community. Potholes and poorly maintained roads are not just an inconvenience they create real safety hazards for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

On a personal level, I am a resident of New York State and I have seen how dangerous these conditions can be. Driving on roads filled with potholes forces people to suddenly swerve or slow down, increasing the risk of accidents. It also causes damage to vehicles, which can be expensive to repair, especially for families who may already be struggling financially. These issues make everyday travel stressful and unsafe.

Beyond personal inconvenience, this is a larger public safety concern. Poor road conditions can delay emergency vehicles, increase the likelihood of crashes, and put everyone on the road at risk. It is important that our infrastructure reflects a commitment to safety and reliability.

I respectfully urge the passage of the Safe Roads Act (A10639). Holding the state accountable for road conditions will encourage faster repairs and ensure that cities and towns prioritize maintaining safe roadways. Taking action on this issue would make a meaningful difference in the daily lives and safety of constituents.
