Voices will stack in harmony. It will be the Motown sound—soul, R&B and pop from the 1960s and 1970s—that will activate memory and nostalgia. On April 12, the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater will be the setting for a concert to remember. The name on the program is That Motown Band, a contemporary project dedicated to recreating on stage the catalog associated with the Detroit label.
The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. It will take place at the historic theater, located at 1008 Brown St. There, the musical focus will be associated with the Motown label: songs popularized by Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, The Supremes and The Four Tops. Among the most recognized titles in the setlist are “My Girl,” “Baby Love,” “I Second That Emotion” and “What’s Going On.”

The show will feature musical direction by Tom Schizzano, a producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. He has an extensive background in the arts and credits in television, in addition to collaborations with artists in the pop industry. Within the band, his role includes the assembly of musicians, arrangements and the continuity of the performance.
The Paramount show will also include the presentation of a special guest: Garfield Fleming, a musician who for more than two decades has been associated with The Delfonics, a group recognized within American soul and R&B.
That Motown Band is a Long Island-based project, made up of professional musicians who perform a repertoire associated with the Motown Records catalog. The group regularly performs in theaters and venues across the northeastern United States, including cities such as New York, the Hamptons, Philadelphia and Baltimore, as part of a live concert circuit.
In Peekskill, the announcement of the show has been well received. Ticket prices range between $50 and $60. Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance to secure a seat. For more information about the performance, the public can consult the theater’s website.
