The announcement of a surprise feels like the cherry on top. The Easter celebration that The Red Door Creative Space will hold on Saturday, April 4, promises to be unforgettable for Peekskill families. The visit from the Easter Bunny, a homemade food feast, and Easter egg fun will be part of the festivities prepared by the community space at 1016 Brown St.
“This will be our 3rd Annual Kids Easter Brunch, and it is truly one of those feel-good events for the children and Peekskill community,” said Carol Dunkley, spokesperson for The Red Door.
The initiative began in 2024 and has expanded in reach since its inception. Each edition also brings together local organizations Unlabelled Awards and Mummie’s Kitchen, which support the creative collective in the day’s activities. Dunkley said the event will begin at noon. There will be food, music, games, and entertainment. “We cook fresh food right there for the children, and the day is packed with fun,” she added.
For her, the goal is for families to feel welcome and included during the three hours of planned entertainment. Although Dunkley did not reveal details of the surprise, she assured that every attendee would enjoy the day and leave with a memorable keepsake. “One of my favorite parts is that every child leaves with a meaningful Easter basket,” she added.
The Easter brunch at The Red Door is free and open to the public, although space is limited, and prior registration is recommended.
The LISA Celebration

On the same Saturday (April 4), the spring kickoff celebration also arrives in Verplanck. “The LISA Bunny is a Let It Shine tradition the day before Easter downstairs from the LISA ‘Let It Shine Again’ thrift store,” explained Kacey Morabito Grean, founder of the organization.
The event, beginning at 11 a.m., will feature a family-friendly program. Music, bubbles, treats, and activities for children will take place over two hours at the Let It Shine location, 137 7th Street. A surprise for attendees is also part of the schedule. “One small surprise is our bunny talks. While most Easter Bunnies stay quiet ours never does,” she added.
The thrift store hosting the organization supports a local food pantry, providing groceries, hygiene products, and other essentials to more than 100 families in the area each week.
The Park Egg Hunt

Easter season officially begins on Wednesday, April 1, with the annual egg hunt at Franklin Park. The event runs from 3:30 p.m. and is organized by Peekskill Parks and Recreation Department, targeting children between 1 and 10 years old.
Participants should bring a basket to collect eggs, and the hunt will be divided by age groups. The program costs $5. Children will have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny and take photos with him. Registration closes on March 27.
