The Easter Bunny will arrive early in Peekskill. On Sunday, March 22, the Elks Lodge #744 will open its doors for the traditional spring event featuring breakfast, an egg hunt, pet the bunnies, and, above all, a visit from the seasonal character eagerly awaited by families.
The gathering will begin at 10 a.m. at the organization’s headquarters, located at 1038 Brown St. The celebration will last approximately two and a half hours. The event is free, open to the public, and does not require prior registration.

Organizers recommend that attendees arrive early to enjoy the food and then take part in the egg hunt, with eggs hidden throughout the venue. In addition to the recreational activities, families will be able to pet live bunnies and take photos with the Easter Bunny.
In previous years, the event has drawn strong participation, bringing together local families in a festive atmosphere that signals the arrival of spring. The gathering includes games, sweets, and opportunities for community connection. Although the Easter Egg Hunt is among the most popular activities, the Elks’ calendar is diverse.
A couple of times each year, the organization sponsors a community closet to support families in vulnerable situations. Additionally, it hosts the Peekskill Repair Café, where volunteers help repair household items while teaching practical skills for reuse and recycling. The lodge also organizes a trick-or-treat event and a meeting with Santa Claus during the holiday season.
Sunday’s event at the Elks marks only the beginning of the Easter season in Peekskill and surrounding areas. The community calendar also includes the traditional Easter Egg Hunt at Franklin Park, where children participate in age-grouped hunts organized by the Department of Recreation. The Red Door Creative Space will also offer its program with food, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and entertainment.
In Cortlandt, the seasonal calendar will also feature egg hunt events, including a gathering with the Easter Bunny and outdoor family activities at Let It Shine, while the Town of Cortlandt will host its own Easter Egg Hunt at the local recreation center, a free event that includes prizes and photographs with the Easter Bunny.
