Boys Soccer
The Sailors are finally up and running. On Sept. 12, Hen Hud cruised to a comfortable 4-1 home victory over Gorton. Goal scorers included Perry Quaye (2), Bruno Leite, and Justin Fernandez.
However, the Sailors couldn’t build on that momentum, falling to Somers 5-1 on the road three days later, on Sept. 15. Hen Hud’s lone goal came from Victor Garcia.
Hen Hud bounced back on Sept. 16 with a 5-1 home win over Putnam Valley. Victor Garcia opened the scoring seven minutes into the first half. Twenty-one minutes in, Leite powered through several Putnam players from just before the halfway line and unleashed a rocket from 20 yards out to double the lead. Perry Quaye added the third with seven minutes left in the half. Justin Fernandez struck early in the second half, and Quaye sealed the victory with his second of the match with 3 minutes remaining – his second brace of the season and fifth goal overall.
The Sailors wrapped up their recent stretch with a 6-0 road defeat to Byram Hills on Sept. 18.
Now 2-4-1 on the season, Hen Hud will host Walter Panas in their next match on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m.
Girls Soccer

On Sept. 12, Hen Hud extended its winless streak with a 5-2 loss to Blind Brook. Haley Morris and Kinsley Steinhiser both scored for the Sailors, with assists from Bridget Couch.
The Sailors followed with a 5-1 road loss to Sleepy Hollow on Sept. 15. Steinhiser found the net again for Hen Hud in that match.
Hen Hud picked up its first win of the season on Sept. 17, defeating Edgemont at home. In the first half, eighth grader Julianna Povella impressed for the Sailors, scoring twice on crosses from Steinhiser. Steinhiser added a goal of her own, capitalizing on a goalkeeper miscue for a simple tap-in, as Hen Hud took a 3–0 lead into halftime.
Yorgia Schattman sealed the victory seven minutes into the second half with a long-range shot that slipped past Edgemont’s keeper. The Sailors nearly secured their first shutout of the season, but Edgemont scored a consolation goal in the closing minutes. Hen Hud ultimately won 4–1.
Hen Hud (1-5) returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, against Irvington on the road at 9:30 a.m.
Football

Hen Hud football dropped a tough road matchup to Byram Hills, 35-20, on Sept. 13.
For the Sailors, Kane Wamack completed 10 of 13 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Parkes had 22 carries for 144 yards and a rushing score, while also adding a 19-yard touchdown reception. On the receiving end, Hunter Kennedy-Brown led the way with five catches for 100 yards. Vinny Valdez contributed three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Liam Urezzio had seven tackles and two sacks, while Shawn O’Mara added six tackles.
Hen Hud (1-1) will look to bounce back on Friday, Sept. 19, when it hosts Rye Neck for Homecoming at 6 p.m.
Girls Volleyball
Hen Hud opened the week on a high note with a 3-1 victory (25-11, 20-25, 25-16, 25-22) over Croton on Sept. 15. Julia Nelson powered the Sailors with 26 kills, 12 digs, eight assists, two aces and a block. Anabel Delgado added 15 assists, 11 digs, three aces, and two kills, while Olivia Scarmozzino had nine digs, four aces, and two kills. Zoe Santana also contributed with 17 digs, seven assists, and three aces.
The rest of the week proved tougher, as Hen Hud fell to Lakeland on Sept. 16 (3-0; 25-18, 25-16, 25-18) and to Tappan Zee on Sept. 14 (3-0; 25-23, 25-15, 25-21).
The Sailors now stand at 3-5. Up next, they’ll compete in a tournament hosted by Walter Panas on Saturday, Sept. 20, before returning home to face Hastings on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Volleyball
This 2025 season, four Hen Hud athletes are playing boys volleyball with Croton and Briarcliff. The players are Anthony Davis, Will McKinley, Seth DeLeon, and Phoenix Hunt. The combined team is coached by Lisa Rudner.
This week, the Croton/Briarcliff/Hen Hud squad improved to 4-1 after back-to-back victories. On Sept. 16, the co-op team swept Lakeland at home, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-20). Hen Hud’s Anthony Davis tallied 13 kills and seven aces, while Will McKinley recorded 10 kills and nine digs. Seth DeLeon had 17 digs. Julian Chinn, of Croton, added 10 kills, and Aiden Lee, of Briarcliff, chipped in 15 digs.
The following day, Croton/Briarcliff/Hen Hud edged 2024 Section 1 champion Eastchester on the road, 3-2 (25-19, 25-14, 24-26, 23-25, 15-9). Davis led the way with 22 kills and three aces, Chinn contributed 12 kills and two blocks, McKinley posted eight kills and two aces, and Phoenix Hunt orchestrated the offense with 34 assists and five kills.
Up next, Croton/Briarcliff/Hen Hud (4-1) will travel to Lakeland on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m.
Field Hockey
Bridget Sickles’ Hen Hud varsity field hockey team has put its season-opening loss behind them and continued to deliver strong performances this week.
On Sept. 13, thanks to several key saves from goalkeeper Kelsey Wong, Hen Hud battled Irvington to a 0-0 draw. Wong’s standout performance earned her a nomination for Lohud’s Field Hockey Player of the Week, where she finished fourth.
The Sailors secured their second win of the season on Sept. 17, defeating Byram Hills 3-0 at home. Eva Facciolo, Nicole Facciolo, and Chloe Haseltine each scored goals, while Julia Freitas and Carleigh Ortiz contributed assists. Wong recorded two saves in net.
Hen Hud (2-1-2) will travel to Pawling for its next game on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 5:15 p.m.
Girls Tennis
Hen Hud fell 3-2 to Keio Academy (Purchase) on Sept. 15. A game against The Leffell School (Hartsdale) on Sept. 17, was postponed due to rain.
Now 4-2 for the season, the Sailors will host Croton for their next match on Sept. 19, at 4 p.m.
Girls Swimming
Hen Hud varsity girls swim team fell to Yorktown/Somers on Sept. 12, 53-33. A meet against Lakeland/Panas on Sept. 15, was cancelled.
The team will compete against Ardsley/Dobbs Ferry on Monday, Sept. 22, at Ardsley Middle School at 4:30 p.m.
Cross Country

Senior Victor Delgado continues to shine for Hen Hud’s cross-country team. On Sept. 13 at the Queensbury Invitational, Delgado captured first place in the Division 2 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:44.20. Teammate Joshua Weinstein finished 17th at 17:03.10, while Vivek Sekhri placed 26th in 17:22.40. On the girls’ side, Rachael Anderson took 31st in the Division 2 5,000-meter run with a time of 22:36.90.
Hen Hud also competed in a preseason league meet on Sept. 16 against Sleepy Hollow, Ardsley, Suffern and Peekskill. For the boys, Weinstein won the 5,000-meter race in 17:41.80, with Sekhri close behind in second at 17:48.20. On the girls’ side, Oona McManus placed fifth at 22:03.00, and Isabelle Carvalho came in sixth at 22:38.40.
Next up, Hen Hud will travel to Pawling High School for the Pawling Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.
