Long tables filled with dinnerware, tablecloths, decorations, vinyl records, racks of clothing, musical instruments, and all sorts of intriguing items will be part of the tag sale to be held on Saturday, July 12, at the Mt. St. Francis convent in Peekskill.
There, the Franciscan Sisters will open the doors of their premises beginning at 10 a.m. The goal: to raise funds that will be allocated to the maintenance of their facilities and to certain community programs supported by the congregation. The event will run until 4 p.m.
Some of the items come from donations made by parishioners and local residents. Others belong to the convent itself. In addition, there will be products crafted by the Franciscan Sisters and volunteers who collaborate at the site, such as handmade crafts and baked goods.
Among the items for sale will be a wide assortment of new and gently used products: household items, gifts, seasonal decorations, clothing, accessories, toys, musical instruments (guitar, accordion, mandolins) and 33 RPM records.
The event will also feature a bake sale offering freshly baked desserts such as cakes, cookies, and brownies. Hot dogs, French fries, and beverages will be sold throughout the day. The tag sale is part of a series of activities that the Franciscan Sisters organize to finance their work. The congregation has also held spaghetti dinners, bingo nights, holiday fairs, bazaars, craft sales, and small benefit concerts.
