It was a hot, sunny Saturday for Peekskill’s 14th annual Juneteenth parade on the first full day of Summer, June 21. The holiday, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865.
Kicking off from the Park Street AME Zion Church marchers ended at a festival in downtown. The city recently honored Juneteenth Parade Grand Marshals on June 9 ahead of Saturday’s parade.
