The Peekskill Herald previously reported that Peekskill Baseball and Softball would close out their seasons last week. However, due to multiple cancellations throughout the season, games were added to each team’s schedule that are reported here.
Flag Football

Peekskill’s 2025 flag football season has come to an end.
On Wednesday, May 14, Peekskill’s postseason hopes were crushed with a 15-0 home loss to Somers in the first round of sectionals. Playing without standout Jealina Searight, who was sidelined due to injury, Peekskill struggled to find their rhythm on a rainy evening and were unable to recover from a slow start. Somers advanced to face Tappan Zee in the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 17, but fell 40-0.
Peekskill will lose 12 seniors this year to graduation. The Red Devils finish the season with an overall record of 8-5-3.
Spring Track
Peekskill hosted a tri-meet on Thursday, May 15, against Alexander Hamilton and The Leffel School. Emotions ran high before the competition as the Red Devils honored their graduating seniors during a heartfelt Senior Night ceremony. After the sentimental start, Peekskill athletes delivered strong performances across several events.
For the boys, Umaru Conteh picked up victories in both the 100-meter dash (11.57) and the long jump (6.08 meters). Jermaine Carter took first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.25, while Oscar Curillo placed first in the 1,600-meter race, finishing in 5:32.11.
On the girls’ side, Nyla Tisdell won the 100-meter (13.74) and 200-meter (28.69) dashes. Valeria Otavalo secured first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:44.24, and Amanda Nelson earned first place in the long jump at 4.17 meters.
Over the weekend (May 16-17), Peekskill athletes competed in the 2025 Westchester County Championships, held at Hendrick Hudson High School and Yorktown High School.
Conteh continued his strong season, claiming first place in the high jump with a leap of 1.93 meters. Tony Monchinski secured third place in the pentathlon, totaling 2,350 points. For the girls, Arisa Specce finished fifth in the 1,500-meter race walk at 9:06.07, while Imani Felder placed sixth in the high jump at 1.47 meters.
Next up, Peekskill will take part in a 20-team meet at Lakeland High School on Tuesday, May 20.
Softball
On Monday, May 12, Peekskill fell 9-4 to East Ramapo on the road. Inara Concepcion and Audrina Mendez each recorded a hit in the effort. Ramapo’s Yoselin Medina went 2-for-2 with a walk and scored three runs.
Peekskill (5-8) will close out its 2025 regular season at home on Monday, May 19, against Alexander Hamilton at 5 p.m.
Baseball
It was a quiet week for Peekskill Baseball. On Tuesday, May 13, the Red Devils took on Barack Obama School for Social Justice in an unofficial game that was left unfinished. Then, a scheduled matchup against Woodlands on May 14 was cancelled due to rain.
Peekskill (3-7) will wrap up its season on Tuesday, May 20, with a double header against East Ramapo at Peekskill Stadium. The first game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., with the second game to follow at 6 p.m.
Boys Lacrosse
Peekskill’s Charlie Berardi recorded a team-high three assists in Ossining/Peekskill’s 15-7 loss to Brewster on Tuesday, May 13.
The following day, May 13, the senior captain contributed two more assists in a 17-14 win over Croton.
As the postseason approaches, Ossining/Peekskill holds a 5-10 record.
College Watch
Track & Field – Division III: Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill Class of 2023) represented SUNY Plattsburgh at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championships on May 14-15. In the long jump, Ritter placed eighth, scoring a career-best jump of 6.95 meters.
