Flag Football

Peekskill’s Jealina Searight is turning heads this season, earning a spot on Lohud’s 2025 Flag Football watchlist. The senior is proving to be someone to look out for as the season progresses.
On April 9, coming off a huge victory over Woodlands, Peekskill hosted Somers in a tight clash that ended in a 0-0 draw. For Peekskill, Jealina Searight completed eight passes and Kimberly Alfaro had five receptions.
The next day (April 10), Peekskill beat Irvington, 33-6. In this game, Searight completed 16 out of 20 passes and had two rushing touchdowns. Mirian Bonilla contributed with a receiving touchdown, two receptions, and five tackles, Zinnia Quinlan and Jayla Smith each added a receiving touchdown, and Kim Alfaro had five receptions, seven rushing attempts, and one interception.
Peekskill (3-2-2) returns to action on Monday, April 21, against Ossining at Ossining High School at 4:30 p.m.
Spring Track

After a quad meet at Ardsley High School was postponed on April 8, Peekskill got back on the track on Saturday, April 12, at the 2nd Annual Memorial Stadium Invitational in Mount Vernon. For the boys, Tony Monchinski took first place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:53.19, while Imani Felder finished second in the girls high jump, clearing 4’-6”.
Next up, Peekskill will travel to Hendrick Hudson High School on Wednesday, April 16, to participate in the 2025 Hen Hud Field Fest.
Baseball

After a tough season-opening loss to Haldane, Peekskill suffered two additional losses this past week before bouncing back with a win.
On April 8, Peekskill fell 10-3 to Yonkers Montessori on the road. According to head coach Joshian Fernandez, the Red Devils competed well through five innings but had to save pitchers due to a demanding week of games.
The following day (April 9), Peekskill was edged out 9-6 by Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton’s Justin Acevedo pitched 5.1 innings with 12 strikeouts, while allowing just one earned run.
Peekskill closed out the week on a high note, securing a 13-10 victory over Yonkers Montessori on April 10. Freshman Justin Chillogallo recorded a six-out save and Jayden Brady went 3-for-4.
Now 1-3 on the season, Peekskill is off this week due to spring break.
Softball
Peekskill picked up their first win of the season on April 9 with an 18-13 victory over Riverside at home. Their game against Barack Obama School for Social Justice on Friday April 11 was postponed.
(The result of a game against Poughkeepsie on April 10 was not made available to the Peekskill Herald at this writing.)
The Red Devils now sit at 1-3 and are off this week for spring break.
Boys Lacrosse
For the third consecutive season, Peekskill is teaming up with Ossining as a merged team. This year’s Ossining-Peekskill roster features two players from Peekskill: team captain Charlie Berardi and Eli McKenzie.
On April 9, Ossining-Peekskill fell to Sleepy Hollow, 12-9. In this game, Berardi contributed with one goal and one assist. Berardi currently has three goals and seven assists for the season.
The team is off this week due to spring break.
College Corner

Track & Field – Division 1: This past weekend, the University at Buffalo track & field team competed at Bucknell University. At the event, Juliette Salazar (Peekskill Class of 2023) posted a new personal record time of 2:13.21 in the women’s 800-meter, placing 22nd out of 137 athletes.
