Girls Lacrosse

In their season opener on Tuesday March 25, Hen Hud’s varsity girls lacrosse team fell to Nyack High School, 19-7. Senior captain and 2024 All-Section recipient Paige Montgomery led the Sailor girls offensively with three goals and one assist. Kayla McCarthy (2), Carleigh Ortiz (1), and Gianna Gagliardi (1) also scored for Hen Hud. Sophomore Mia Dietz had eight saves in goal.
Despite the loss, Hen Hud looks to be a solid team this campaign. The girls will hope to improve on last year’s 8-8 record and quarterfinal finish and put up a fight during postseason action. The girls are led by head coach Robert Porter and assistant coaches Kelsey Pell and Bridget Sickles.
Hen Hud returns to action on Saturday, March 29, for the annual Suffern Play Day scrimmage event at Suffern Middle School.
Boys Tennis
Hen Hud opened its season on Thursday, March 27, with a win over Brewster, 5-2. Hen Hud’s Nicholas Gatto won at singles and Xair Lesende/Seth Otero, Adrian Szostak/Jacob Markovitch, and Max Parker/Spencer Thomas at doubles.
“We’re a little banged up at the moment, but it was a nice way to start the season,” said head coach Bradley Fredman.
The Sailors will have little time to rest as they are back in action for a double header against Sleepy Hollow on Friday, March 29, at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m at home.
Winter Honors

Cheerleading: Sophomore Addison Peskie was named All-League and All-Section by the Westchester Putnam Dutchess Rockland Cheerleading Coaches Association (WPDRCCA). Senior Haylee Finch was also named All-League.
In other news, Sydney Willekhr was recently announced as a recipient of a WPDRCCA Senior Scholarship award.
College Corner

Women’s Lacrosse — Division I: The St. Bonaventure University women’s lacrosse team picked up a 20-12 victory at Duquesne on Wednesday, March 26. In theis game, Fiona McGovern (Hen Hud Class of 2021) scored two goals and grabbed an assist. McGovern is a senior at St. Bonaventure University and is majoring in Health Science.
Women’s Lacrosse –- Division 1: Eastern Michigan University (EMU) goalie Maddie Porter (Hen Hud Class of 2023) is having a stellar start to the 2025 lacrosse season. According to EMU Athletics, on a national level, Porter is currently second in ground balls (3.89), ninth in saves per game (10.78), 11th in save percentage (.519), and 33rd in goals against average (10.15). Porter recently earned the Mid-American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor twice (March 4 and March 11). Porter was recently interviewed for the latest edition of the Eastern Insider Podcast. Women’s Lacrosse — Division II: The University of Mount Olive women’s lacrosse team secured a 26-0 shutout victory over Chowan on Wednesday, March 26. Caroline Clark (Hen Hud Class of 2023) contributed to the Trojans win with a goal.
Women’s Lacrosse — Division III: Katherine Couch (Hen Hud Class of 2023) scored one goal in Meredith College’s route over North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 25. The final score of the game was Meredith 23-1 N.C. Wesleyan.
Track & Field –- Division lll: Last weekend (March 22-23), Gettysburg College competed at the 2025 Little 3 meet and finished second. At the meet, Olivia Taylor (Hen Hud Class of 2021) placed third in the triple jump with Centennial Conference (CC)- qualifying and personal-best leap of 10.42 meters. She also placed fourth in the pole vault with a CC-qualifying vault of 2.80 meters.
Riding — Division III: This week, members of Skidmore College’s horseback riding team finished fourth out of 11 eleven teams in the last of the Tournament of Champions Series hosted by Findlay University. Stella Allen (Hen Hud Class of 2023) was one of six members to mount up to ride for the team competition. She placed third in Novice Equitation.
