The Riverfront Green in Peekskill is not only a place one where one can relax, find zen, and enjoy the beauty of the Hudson Highlands, but on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., one can go there and worship at the 2nd annual Rock the Riverfront festival.
Rock the Riverfront is a free annual event sponsored by The Peak Community Church located in Peekskill. In addition, this year Flow Vineyard Church based in Yorktown Heights and Faith Bible Church based in Mohegan Lake will also be joining the Rock the Riverfront festival.
Rock the Riverfront is a faith based event where there will be live Contemporary Christian Music and Gospel Music throughout the day from a variety of Worship Teams, individual musicians, and tracks. There will also be spoken word, testimony, and short mini-sermons on hope, salvation and faith. Folks from the Brooklyn Adult & Teen Challenge, Hoving Home and local youth from The Peak Community Church will give testimonies.
Brooklyn Adult & Teen Challenge has been located in Brooklyn for over 61 years and helps people find freedom from addiction and other life controlling issues through Christ-centered solutions. It is a faith-based network of programs which has over 35,000 beds available in over 1,400 centers around the world.
Hoving Home is nonprofit, residential discipleship home for women with life-controlling problems such as drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution and court cases. It provides a loving community devoted to rebuilding shattered lives that empowers women to fulfill their God-given purpose. There are multiple homes throughout the country including their first campus, The Walter Hoving Home located in Garrison, NY.
In addition to live music, and testimonies, Rock the Riverfront will have lots of kids events, food vendors and local organizations. Happy Cheeks Face painting will be at Rock the River painting butterflies, rainbows and other designs children wish for. Children can also get free balloon animals and enjoy the Bubble Bus which is scheduled to arrive at noon. In addition, there will be lots of arts and crafts, puppet shows and book readings for the kids as well.
Local organizations will be in attendance such as Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP), Sun River Health, Brooklyn Teen Challenge, Hoving Home, Hudson Valley Christian Academy, Naraine Financial Group and the Wells Financial Group.
To keep the hunger down, food vendors will be there including Jeremiah 29:11 Hot Dogs, The Baker’s Daughter, Wrapper’s Delight, Taste of Pueblal, and Lilly Pad’s/Froggy’s Sandwiches. Last year, at the first Rock the Riverfront, there were approximately 300+ people that enjoyed the festival. This year, organizers are expecting double the amount of people as the event organizers have reached out to and included other local churches, organizations and sponsors. Rock the Riverfront would not be made possible with out sponsors Hudson Valley Christian Academy, Jesus First House of Worship, Naraine Financial, Aces Automotive of Peekskill, and Sweet Creations by yas.
