Bruce Apar, Editor
Bruce Apar is editor of the Peekskill Herald. His community journalism career spans 20 years, including as publisher and editor-in-chief of North County News, editorial director of River Journal and columnist for Halston Media’s newsweeklies.
Bruce is a past board member of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, where he currently sits on its marketing committee and was named the Chamber’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year. He served as vice president of the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce prior to its January 2025 merger with Gateway.
Bruce has served on the advisory councils of Northern Westchester Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He regularly appears on regional stages as an actor and reviews local theater for BroadwayWorld.com.
Along with wife Elyse and daughter Elissa, the family runs the Harrison Apar Field of Dreams Foundation, a local charity in memory of his son, which was named 2010 Organization of the Year by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce.
