A Peekskill man was arrested by Peekskill police and New York State police after allegedly assaulting a woman with a brick and barricading himself inside a house on Monday, Dec. 15. That man was identified as 46-year-old Jason M. Blume.
In a press release, Peekskill Chief of Police Adam Renwick stated that at about 5:59 a.m., officers responded to 153 Hudson Avenue for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers could hear screams for help coming from inside the residence.

Officers entered the building and encountered an adult female victim suffering from a visible head injury while being pursued by an adult male, police said. When the male observed the officers, he entered a second-floor apartment and barricaded himself inside, police said.
The victim reported to officers that she had been struck in the head with a brick and feared for her life. She was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
At about 11 a.m. a search warrant for the second-floor apartment was issued by City Court Judge Sophia Trott. Peekskill police officers executed the warrant and took the suspect, Blume, into custody without further incident. He could be seen escorted out in handcuffs in video footage by News 12.

David James Carbone of Peekskill Today was at the scene and said there were about five New York State vehicles, an equal number of Peekskill police cruisers, and a drone deployed. The Peekskill Fire Department was also present at the scene, including Chief James Seymour IV.
Blume was arraigned later in the day in the City of Peekskill Court on the following charges: Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree.
A temporary order of protection was issued against Blume to protect the victim. The bail was set at $50,000 cash, $75,000 insured, and $100,000 partially secured surety bond, according to the New York State Unified Court System.
Blume’s case was adjourned until Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.

The Peekskill man in his mid-forties was previously charged with the burglary
of a Cold Spring building on April 1.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office stated that during the overnight hours of April 1 someone had forced entry into a Main Street building and had taken items, including jewelry, and spray-painted graffiti on the interior and exterior walls on a couple streets. Blume was arrested on April 28 and charged with felonies of burglary and grand larceny and misdemeanor making graffiti.
The Dec. 15 incident is an ongoing investigation being led by the Peekskill Police Department. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Peekskill Police Detective Division at (914) 737-8000 or email Detective Sergeant Alvaro Farias at [email protected].
