In mid-afternoon on Oct. 31, the doors of Peekskill Elks Lodge #744 will open to superheroes, witches, and tiny ghosts ready to fill their candy buckets. Inside the lodge at 1038 Brown St., volunteers and members of the organization will set up themed tables and interactive trick-or-treat stations as part of the 4th Annual Halloween Trick or Treat, a free event for children up to 12 years old.

The celebration will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., offering Peekskill families a safe and welcoming place to enjoy Halloween indoors. No registration is required. Lodge members will guide costumed children as they receive candy and snacks. The fourth edition is expected to draw strong participation, continuing the community response seen in prior years.
The initiative is part of the Elks’ community agenda focused on children and families. Since its creation, the goal has been to promote recreational activities and positive environments for young residents. Inside the lodge, decorations will feature seasonal themes, and organizers will ensure a friendly atmosphere for all attendees.
The Field Library, located at 4 Nelson Ave., has also scheduled a special week of family programs leading up to Halloween. Activities include Bilingual Story Time on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.; the Apple Stamp Pumpkin Patch workshop for ages 3–5 on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 3:30 p.m.; and on Friday, Oct. 31, two creative sessions—Monster Wreath at 10:30 a.m. and Halloween Craft at 3:30 p.m. All programs are free of charge.
Peekskill continues to promote spaces like these as opportunities for families to connect and strengthen community ties. For more information, visit the official websites of the Peekskill Elks Lodge #744 and The Field Library.
