While much of the national conversation about wellness focuses on the mental health of teenagers on their phones, or achieving work-life balance in the corporate world, one demographic often neglected is those who are expected to keep it all together: mothers. As the endless cycle of caregiving, working, and household management catches up, many mothers find their resilience pushed to the absolute limit.
To keep running the show, recharge is needed–and two local mothers recently realized the shortage of external support systems dedicated to this purpose. Luisa and Ericka, the founders of LE Beauty Studios in Peekskill, originally met through their church, the Tabernacle of Christ; they grew closer during the pandemic, as social nets were constricted and they realized the necessity of mothers having a support system outside of the home. That shared motivation, to bolster their own families and the larger community through wellness, inspired them to open the spa.
Ericka Najera and Luisa Machado personally understand the stress their clients face. “As mothers, we feel like we don’t have time for ourselves,” Luisa explains. “But a routine of self-care can lower blood pressure and ultimately lead to better holistic health.” This supportive atmosphere, which grew quickly from a single rented room in March 2024 to a three-spa-room haven on Main Street, is designed to be the very sanctuary they envisioned.

LE Beauty Studios is at the forefront of the wellness movement by offering unique, holistic services. They are among the first in the area to introduce Wood Therapy (maderotherapy), a non-invasive, historically global technique that uses specialized wooden tools to stimulate lymphatic drainage, relieve muscle tension, and reduce cellulite. The studio also offers a full menu of other services, including classic therapeutic massages, hot stone treatments, facials, waxing–and Westchester’s first Japanese Head Spa. They even feature an in-house hair salon, Kareliss beauty: making it a complete destination for self-care.
LE Beauty studio’s all-natural, hands-on approach is complemented by an intentionally welcoming environment. “Every part of the salon was carefully thought out to make it very aesthetically pleasing, as we want our customers to feel good,” explains Luisa. This warm, pampering atmosphere helps clients overcome initial shyness, as the owners gush proudly:”We love helping mothers gain confidence about their physical appearance, especially after childbirth…their body went through something crazy!”

But that supportive mission extends not just to multi-tasking caregivers like themselves, but to every client, including those in Peekskill’s large immigrant community. As Ericka notes, “A lot of immigrants have the mentality that “I’m just here to work, work, work”. We like to show people they can make time to take care of themselves, too.” The ultimate goal for LE Beauty Studios is to give all customers not just a one-time fix, but a stepping stone to a lifetime of confidence, health, and good habits.
