The aroma of homemade sauce and meatballs will once again fill the dining hall at Mount Saint Francis in Peekskill, as the Franciscan Sisters prepare to host their ninth Annual Pasta Dinner this Saturday, Oct. 18. The event will begin at 5 p.m., with a significant turnout expected, as in previous years. The gathering will last at least three hours.

The pasta dinner, held for nearly a decade at 250 South Street, has become a cherished autumn tradition for the community. This year, attendees will enjoy an evening of good food, raffles, and lively conversation, within the warm atmosphere of a venue that has been part of the city’s spiritual and social fabric for more than a century.
This year’s menu includes pasta, homemade meatballs, sausages, salad, and bread, along with a selection of desserts, wine, soft drinks, water, coffee, and tea. Takeout will also be available. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Funds raised will support the work of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
In recent years, the Peekskill Franciscan Sisters have organized other community-focused events similar to the Pasta Dinner, both to raise funds and strengthen local ties. For example, in July 2025, they held a Charity Tag Sale at the Mount Saint Francis convent, featuring items donated by parishioners and local residents. Handcrafted goods made by the sisters and volunteers were also available, along with homemade food. Proceeds supported the maintenance of the facilities and the congregation’s community programs.
The religious order was founded in Peekskill in the late 19th century. The Franciscan Sisters established Mount Saint Francis as a convent and community refuge. Today, the venue also houses Villa St. Francis, an independent residence for elderly women, reflecting the congregation’s ongoing commitment to care, service, and hospitality.
