Paints, brushes, and pumpkins will be part of the Halloween Pumpkin Decorating event in Peekskill on Saturday, Oct. 18. The gathering, which will take place at Pugsley Park, will bring families together starting at 1 p.m. The Peekskill Recreation Department and the Business Improvement District (BID) are responsible for organizing the traditional pre-Halloween event. This is a free activity for local residents, aimed at children from pre-K to sixth grade.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Peekskill Farmer’s Market, is part of the community calendar and aims to provide a space for outdoor activity and reconnection. In previous years, the program has been popular among city residents and has drawn the attention of visitors who come for the farmers market and also find an entertaining event right across the street.
This year, the event will follow its usual format. Once participants, who must complete a prior registration, arrive at the park, they will select a pumpkin. They will then be assigned to one of the tables, where they will find artistic materials to decorate the pumpkin. Paints, stickers, and glitter will be available for children to unleash their imagination and create a unique design.
Halloween Pumpkin Decorating is expected to last at least two hours. Participants may arrive at any time during that period, without the need to schedule a specific time. In past editions, families have come in costumes, and children have received candies from the organizers. All materials are provided free of charge.
The event has become a tradition that reached full capacity last year. For more information or to complete registration, visit the official Recreation Department website or contact (914) 734-7275.
