To engage and to elevate will not be just verbs. Beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, Peekskill youth will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop designed for personal growth and empowerment. The Youth Bureau is organizing the event, which will address mental health, online well-being, safe collaboration spaces, and youth leadership.
The Engage & Elevate initiative is part of Project Elevate, created to support high school students in exploring academic, professional, and community engagement opportunities. The event seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration among young people, strengthening their active participation in their civic environment.

The activity will take place at the Youth Bureau headquarters and will last at least 90 minutes. Participation is open to all youth, but advance registration is required. Registration can be completed on the City of Peekskill website or by calling (914) 734-4149.
A central topic of discussion during the workshop will be mental health, particularly relevant in September, which is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
A national campaign also emphasizes the importance of mental health and access to support resources for young people to prevent these outcomes. Likewise, the Peekskill Youth Bureau reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe and supportive space for students. It also offers opportunities to address these critical topics and develop leadership skills that allow participants to contribute positively to the community.
All topics in the free workshop include interactive activities that enable participants to learn in engaging ways and strengthen skills for their future. Additionally, they will share experiences, learn from one another, and build support networks to reinforce overall well-being.
