September begins with art in Peekskill. From the first day of the month, the ink drawings of artist Sergio Benenson will find a home at Gauchos Steakhouse, in the heart of the city. For nearly two months, the painter’s works will be on display at the venue. The opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, from 2 p.m to 4 p.m.
The exhibition, organized by John Mucciolo, focuses on the details of Benenson’s traditional ink drawing technique. The work is meticulous and precise. The inking process is carried out in layers: first, the outlines and main forms; second, the details and textures. Line thickness is achieved through the pressure and angle of the nib or by alternating tools.

This is not Benenson’s first exhibition in the city. In April, he presented his work at the Peekskill Coffee House. Additionally, he participated in the Peekskill Art Alliance Open Studio, along with more than seventy local artists. Benenson is an illustrator trained at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. He was born in Honduras. His work has roots in illustration and comics, with many pieces created in ink.
During the opening, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Benenson, discuss the inspiration behind his works, and ask questions about his creative process. Previous audience responses to his exhibitions have been positive, with many noting the attention he gives to detail in his drawings.
The exhibition at Gauchos Steakhouse will remain open until Friday, October 31, 2025. For more information regarding hours or works on display, visitors may consult the restaurant’s website. Another way to follow Benenson’s work is through his Instagram account, where he regularly posts his most recent pieces.
