
Peekskill residents will return to the water for the third edition of the Swim 4 Life Pool Party, a community gathering designed not only for recreation but also to raise awareness about mental health, particularly among young people. The event will take place on Thursday, August 14, at the Veterans Memorial Pool in Depew Park, bringing together residents of all ages. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday. According to the organizers, there will be recreational party is organized by the Youth Bureau and the Community Hub. Admission will be free and no recreation card will be required, meaning access will be open to any city resident.
The gathering, which will run until 7 p.m., is part of the Swim 4 Life initiative, focused on raising awareness about youth mental health.
Darryl Francis, Youth Advocacy spokesperson, has emphasized the city’s commitment to addressing youth mental health. This is one of the reasons why recreational activities are organized on a regular basis. “I believe that addressing youth mental health is crucial for building a healthier and more resilient community, and Swim 4 Life is one way of making a positive difference and showing our commitment to supporting young people and the entire family,” he explained.
This year’s event is expected to include information tables with representatives from the Youth Bureau, the Peekskill Parks and Recreation Department, the Westchester County government, the local PTO, and Main Event Barber Shop. Each stand will offer materials, contacts, and guidance on community programs focused on youth and mental health.
