An evening filled with food, games, prizes, and music will define the 2025 edition of National Night Out in Peekskill. The event will take place on Tuesday, August 5, at Pugsley Park, in the heart of the city. Beginning at 5 p.m., the gathering will bring together public safety agencies, local organizations, and area families in a community-focused event centered on crime prevention, civic cooperation, and the visibility of essential services.
The three-hour event is organized by the Peekskill Police Department, in coordination with the Peekskill Youth Bureau, the Community Hub of the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Fire Department. In addition to strengthening neighbor-to-neighbor relationships, the objective is to promote interactive, family-friendly engagement. National Night Out is part of a nationwide campaign celebrated simultaneously in more than 16,000 communities across the United States on the first Tuesday in August.
This year’s schedule includes free food, game stations for children, family activities, live music, and a variety of giveaways distributed across participating booths. Although the complete program has not yet been released, organizers have indicated the event will follow the traditional format of previous years, supported by community-based agencies.
The event is open to the public and does not require prior registration. However, attendees are advised to arrive early, as parking in the area is limited. For more information about National Night Out programming, visit the official pages of the organizing entities.
In 2023 and 2024, for instance, the event featured free bicycle repair clinics, juggling performances, inflatable attractions, and informational booths hosted by police, fire departments, and social service providers. In 2024, due to a weather alert, the event was relocated to the plaza outside the public library.
