The lights will focus on the stage at BeanRunner Café in Peekskill to welcome both amateur and professional musicians during the Music Makers Open Mic. On Thursday, July 3, there will be no room for nerves on stage. Starting at 6 p.m., this venue, located in the city center, will open its doors to the talented participants of this gathering, which takes place frequently, always on Thursdays. There, local musicians, songwriters, and the public share live performances without pre-recorded tracks.

The event, organized by Andy Phillips, will continue until 8:30 p.m. and will be open to performers of all genres who wish to play original pieces or covers of well-known artists in an acoustic format. Admission to the Music Makers Open Mic is free for the audience, and there is also no registration fee for participants. Those interested must sign up on a list that will be available at the venue before the performances begin.
BeanRunner Café provides microphones and a basic sound system. However, each artist must bring their own instrument or accompaniment. The event is not competitive and does not declare winners. There is neither a jury nor public voting. Musicians who perform do so without the expectation of prizes or payment.
The objective of the Open Mic is to offer a space where music enthusiasts can showcase their work, test new material, and build connections with the local community in an intimate and safe environment. On occasion, the organizers share photographs of the shows and express their gratitude to the participants on social media.
In previous editions, amateur performers have played as soloists, although there has also been room for groups. On stage, the variety of musical styles, ranging from folk and blues to jazz and pop, has stood out and earned applause from the audience.
The event, emceed by Andy Phillips, who also handles sound management, welcomes more than a dozen interested performers. The logistics allow for spontaneous participation, thanks to on-site registration before the event begins. More information and updates can be found on the café’s official website.
