Peekskill and Croton-on-Hudson are hosting two key events this weekend as part of the ongoing Pride Month programming. One is a monthly gathering for LGBTQ+ high school students; the other a cooperative art exhibition featuring queer artists from the Hudson Valley. Both will take place in local venues, are free of charge, and emphasize community engagement beyond celebration.
On Friday, June 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m., The Field Library will host a new edition of Fourth Fridays, a social gathering for LGBTQ+ youth in grades 9 through 12 and their allies. The event, expected to last at least two hours, includes dinner, games, group activities, and open conversations in a setting overseen by volunteers trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid.
The program is organized by Peekskill Pride and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Hudson Valley. Its aim is to provide a safe, recurring space for adolescents in the area. Friday’s session will include a community meal, group games, and the opportunity to share experiences among peers. The event will take place in the library’s community room and requires advance registration.

Meanwhile, in Croton-on-Hudson, the Croton River Artisans gallery continues its special Pride Month queer art showcase through the end of June. The group exhibition is organized by a cooperative of local artists who run the space themselves. Works on display include sculpture, ceramics, painting, printmaking, and photography, all highlighting the work of LGBTQ+ creators from the region.
The gallery is open to the public, with regular hours from Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The June exhibition features guest artist Steven Altarescu, alongside pieces by resident members such as Zach Monette.
Both events are part of a Pride agenda that remains active in northern Westchester well beyond the commemorative dates of June.
