Pride will take over the park, the streets, the city, and every person who celebrates diversity in Peekskill. On Saturday, June 28, the rainbow flag will fly once again during the fifth edition of Family Pride, beginning at 2 p.m. in Pugsley Park, right in the heart of downtown Peekskill. This is a free event, open to all, with no prior registration required, and it will be held rain or shine.
The gathering, which will feature artistic, cultural, and family-friendly programming, aims to highlight the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community. Since its debut in 2019, it has become one of the best-attended summer events in northern Westchester.
“Year five, and we are proud of the momentum,” said Peekskill Councilmember and Peekskill Pride Vice President Brian Fassett. “Peekskill Pride’s mission is to ensure that everyone—whether they live here, work here, or are just visiting—knows that this is a community that embraces diversity. That is something worth celebrating.”
Peekskill Pride will lead the event, which was very well received in 2024. Close to 1,000 people gathered at Pugsley Park last year to take part in the festivities. This year, the celebration will run until 6 p.m. and will feature Evita Loca, a renowned drag performer with a strong backgr

ound on Broadway. A wide range of performances is also planned.
Among the highlights are School of Rock from Briarcliff Manor; live readings by Katarina Mirage and Diamondy Doux; choreographies by The Dance Conservatory; a live set by I.Den.t.T; improvisational comedy by Blind Tiger Improv featuring DD; and special appearances by Legendary Mother Lynda Pink Lady and Blaque Fridae. Music will continue throughout the afternoon with DJ Toney da Tiger, a member of the House of Aviance.
Alongside the performances, a dedicated area for children will be available. Coordinated by River Towns Music Group with support from Macaroni Kid, the space will offer face painting, games, crafts, and sensory-friendly activities. Additionally, a vendor corridor will be set up featuring local civic groups, health and wellness providers, small businesses, bookstores, baked goods, gift items, and educational resources.
Organizers also confirmed a food truck area, including Kathleen’s Tea Room, Birdsall House, and Gleason’s. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own picnics or snacks.
Peekskill Pride was founded in 2016 by a group of LGBTQIA+ residents with the goal of creating safe and supportive spaces for people of all ages. The organization carries out educational, advocacy, and community-building initiatives throughout the year. Full event details, artist lineup, and activity maps are available on the website.
