Healthy food is reimagined during a talk organized by NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley. On Tuesday, May 20, get your cooking utensils ready to join a virtual event where you will learn about simple, healthy, and delicious meals.
The talk, Cooking For Your Health: Healing Through Nutrition, will begin at 1 p.m. and will be led by Dr. Nicole Belkin, Chief of the Orthopedic Department. A specialist in sports medicine as well, Dr. Belkin will offer practical tips for a healthier lifestyle.
For 45 minutes, participants will receive a seminar on the role nutrition plays in physical recovery. Dr. Belkin will explore this from both clinical and functional perspectives, explaining how certain nutrients support or enhance the body’s healing process—especially in patients with musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, osteoarthritis, neck pain, tendinitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, sprains, and others.

The program will include a live cooking demonstration, featuring healthy recipes designed to be both accessible and complementary to medical treatment. At the end of the event, attendees will receive downloadable resources, including the recipes presented and other educational materials.
As part of this initiative, participants will also have access to recordings of Cooking For Your Health: Healing Through Nutrition and will be able to join similar activities, as this event is part of a larger series of virtual gatherings organized by the hospital.
The goal of this dynamic series is to bring health education closer to the public through practical formats. Participation is free, but prior registration on the Zoom platform is required.
These cooking classes, nutrition education sessions, and lifestyle programs are designed to promote healthy eating and prevent chronic illnesses. They are typically supported by experts from various fields of medicine and nutrition.
