This weekend, Peekskill’s riverfront area will burst into color, music, and local talent with the latest edition of the Mother’s YAY! Market—a community fair that celebrates Mother’s Day by uplifting local commerce and creative artisanship. The event takes place on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., along Railroad Avenue, which will be closed to vehicle traffic to make room for over 40 local vendors.
Favorable spring weather is expected to accompany the event, inviting visitors to enjoy the riverside atmosphere just steps from the Hudson River. More than a market, Mother’s YAY! is a space for celebrating creativity and enjoying time with family in a vibrant, welcoming setting next to Peekskill’s historic train station plaza.
Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of goods, including jewelry, natural cosmetics, ceramics, illustrations, books, fashion, wood art, culinary specialties, and more. Local organizations such as Peekskill Rotary Club Literacy Lovers, Girl Scouts, and Retake/Remake will also be present, hosting community tents to share their work and connect with attendees.
The fair was founded in 2021 by Stefanie Apple and Frederick Dennstedt, who began with a small holiday market. Since then, the event has grown significantly and now brings together over 50 artisans and entrepreneurs, becoming a staple in Peekskill’s cultural calendar.
The day will also feature live music from start to finish. Local DJ Sparky Griswold will keep the beats going throughout the day. At 11 a.m., youth band Puppets for Hire, made up of Westchester-based teen musicians, will kick off the entertainment with an electrifying mix of classic rock, modern pop, and grunge. At 1 p.m., Peekskill singer-songwriter Adam Love will take the stage with a set full of luminous lyrics and uplifting energy. Closing the event at 3 p.m. is Ben Dyleuth, offering a blend of soul, experimental pop, and cinematic textures.

Admission to YAY! Market is free, making it the perfect opportunity to find a thoughtful gift for mom—or simply to spend a beautiful day outdoors with family and friends.
