
Gary Lewis Wood
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lt. Col Gary Lewis Wood (Ret.) on February 18, 2025, in Naples, Florida. He was 88. Graveside services, accompanied by military honors, will be held Saturday, July 26, 11 a.m., at Tompkins Corners Cemetery, New York.
Born April 2, 1936 in Peekskill, New York, he was a proud Citadel graduate, class of 1958, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1982.
Gary is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alma L. Wood, two children, daughter Rhonda (Wood) Mott-Hill and son Gary L. Wood, Jr., three grandchildren, Amanda (Hill) Bauman, Sam Wood and Julia Wood, two great-grandchildren, Cayden Bauman and Alma Sophia Bauman, two sisters, Carol Young and Susan Napolitano, and one aunt, Charlotte Mekeel.

Raymond Alexander Brannigan

Raymond Alexander Brannigan, age 69, passed away on July 17, 2025, from heart failure.
Born on June 1, 1956, in Manhattan, New York, Raymond was the beloved son of Ohanio Brannigan and Gertrud Werthmann Corley. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that shaped his life and values.
Ray continued his connection to military service through his work at the Veterans Administration, where he served as a chef–nourishing not just bodies but spirits. His dedication to fellow veterans reflected his deep sense of duty, compassion, and pride.
Outside of his service, Ray had a lifelong passion for the martial arts. He trained for many years and earned a black belt in karate–a symbol of his discipline, focus, and quiet strength.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Tracey Brannigan of Cortlandt Manor , NY; his sons, Terrell Brannigan of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Alex Brannigan of Cortlandt Manor, NY. His mother, Gertrud Werthmann Corley of Williamsburg, Va.; his sisters, Dolores Reid of New York City, NY, and Renate Mas of Williamsburg, Va.; his brother, Bob Werthmann of San Diego, Calif., as well as his nephews and nieces.
He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a steady, generous presence in the lives of all who knew him.
Those who knew Ray will remember his quiet humor, his strong sense of purpose, and the deep care he showed for others–especially through food, service, and family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at The First Baptist Church of Peekskill, located at 690 Highland Avenue, Peekskill, NY 10566. (914) 737-0321.
