Children will become chefs at Peekskill’s Field Library on Wednesday, May 28. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., participants will enjoy a fun-filled activity where, for at least a little while, they will transform into kitchen experts to prepare a unique dish: Pancake Spaghetti, a creative fusion of the classic American breakfast and the beloved Italian staple.
This event is part of the library’s ongoing children’s programming. The session is designed for participants ages 6-11. Children will learn how to make spaghetti using pancake batter. Creativity is encouraged—participants will choose the color of their batter, experiment with texture, and add decorative toppings.

The goal is for each child to create a personalized dish using ingredients they enjoy. The activity is free, but advance registration is required through the library’s website. There is no need to bring any materials, as all supplies will be provided on-site.
Events like this combine hands-on learning with play and imagination. Throughout the year, the library offers a variety of educational and entertaining workshops for children.
For example, the day before Pancake Spaghetti, on May 27, a session will be held on how to create your own geodes using sugar, water, and paint. Children aged five and up are welcome to attend beginning at 4 p.m..
Other regular programs at the library include bilingual story time in English and Spanish, as well as academic support to assist students with their homework. These services are available for children from preschool through fifth grade. The objective is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can explore diverse interests, develop motor skills, and strengthen their imagination.
In the summer, the children’s calendar expands with outdoor activities and the traditional summer reading program, which aims to promote strong reading habits during school vacation.
