5 years ago today, on March 10, 2020, the world was a completely different place. It was on that date that the world changed forever. It was on that day, that then New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a New Rochelle “containment area” to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The next day, on March 11, the World Health Organization declared a global COVID-19 pandemic. Within one week, the State of New York began a full lockdown from March to April. In the midst of all of this, a brand new local non-profit organization was founded. The organization had a very simple mission: “gather love and give it away.” Five years later, Let It Shine has not only proven that they are a lasting force, but they have proved that the power of love, gathering love and giving it away, is the one of the most powerful forces in the world. “We connect people to the things they need with simplicity, beauty and kindness,” said Kacey.
On Friday, March 14, 2025, from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m., Let It Shine will host their five year anniversary with Cabaret! A benefit for Let It Shine. The event will feature 12 dazzling performances, delicious food and desserts, and a sing-along finale. “Some lovely local theatre folks volunteered to create a night of song for us with Susan Bond as the creative director,” Kacey said. In addition, “Justin Wigenroth’s The Dance Conservatory of Cortlandt Manor will make a special guest appearance,” she continued. “We are looking forward to a great night and everyone is welcome!”
Cabaret! A benefit for Let It Shine will be held “Just off Broadway” at the corner of 8th and Highland Avenue, 155 Highland Ave at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society Banquet Hall in Verplanck. Tickets are $35 per person and $70 per couple and can be purchased via letitshineonline.com.
About Let It Shine, Inc.
Five years ago, in 2020, Kacey Morabito Grean and her sister Maria Morabito founded the Let it Shine, Inc. “It all began one night in 2019, on my facebook group, ‘A Circle of Prayer.’ A Mom had a prayer request about her adult daughter and grandchildren who needed everything that goes with a quick escape from a bad marriage. The women offered their prayers and support – but one woman wrote something like – what else does she need – we can do more. That was a shazam moment for me. In the next instant, I reached out to a lawyer and began to build Let It Shine Inc. We were granted 501c3 status April 16th of 2020 yet the creation of this group of loving and powerful women began long before that,” states a post from Kacey on the Let It Shine website. Kacey and Maria do not take all of the credit. They give credit to “Lisa Cole and all of the wonderful volunteers,” Kacey said.
Just this past weekend, Kacey was featured in a Peekskill Herald profile article From broadcaster to community treasure, Kacey’s voice shines brighter than ever.
