The 8th Annual NashSkill Music Festival is back and better than ever. On Saturday, September 14th starting at 2:00 p.m., the free Country music and Bluegrass festival will fill the outdoor patio and parking lot at the River Outpost and Factoria with live music, food, crafts, and vendors.
As attendees enter the Factoria complex, they will hear the music playing from the River Outpost Brewing Company patio. As attendees walk towards the Factoria, they will have the opportunity to spend some time shopping for jewelry, CBD products, engraved items, and more as vendors line the path to the Factoria. Interspersed between the craft vendors and the Factoria patio, food stands from “Smoke Show”, “Big Daddy’s House of Fried” serving River Outpost classics, Pizza, Taco Dive Bar and more will be there to keep attendees well fed.
After a little shopping, a bite to eat, and walking around, attendees are encouraged to grab a beverage of their choice. Specifically for NashSkill, River Outpost Brewing is releasing “The Octo Pumpkin Ale”, an Oktoberfest and a Pumpkin Ale.
Kicking off live music at 2:00 p.m. is the spirited Bluegrass trio, Lily of the Valley. From 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Six-String Country brings modern Country music to the stage making the audience want to refill their red Solo cups.
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Cancion Franklin soothes the soul from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a sound that blends delta blues, country, rock n’ roll, gospel, and Americana. Evoking the spirit of R.L. Burnside and with shades of Merle Haggard, the songs Franklin crafts with tales of hardship and wandering resonate with the audience yearning to hear more.
Kicking off the evening set of live music at 7:00 p.m., The Pipes and Drums of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester gets the audience off their feet to sing, dance and clap along with patriotic songs that everyone knows and enjoys.
Way Behind The Sun, sporting three lead singers, soaring harmonies and lively guitar twang, brings a little bit of something for everyone with traditional and original country music just as the sun begins to set behind Dunderberg Mountain.
Rock-Americana artist Alex Cano headlines NashSkill from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Known for his combination of smooth baritone and powerful rock vocals, Cano’s sound ranges from high energy alternative and blues based rock ‘n’ roll, to intimate Americana/folk/roots rock. Coming from a wide array of influences, his sound is described as a mix of Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Jason Isbell, and Johnny Cash.
The music does not end there though, night capping the evening is one of the Hudson Valley’s most sought after pop-rock country party bands, Hillbilly Parade. Led hometown vocalist, singer, and front woman Cheyenne See, Hillbilly Parade will lead the crowd to sing at the top of their lungs, put the hands in the air like they just don’t care, and lead the audience to line dance with their fun, energetic and high energy sets. Just this past summer, Hillbilly Parade made their triumphant return to Peekskill as part of Riverfront Series. The Peekskill Herald took the opportunity to talk to Cheyenne to discuss her musical journey and how Peekksill helped shape her into the musician she is today.
General Admission to NashSkill is free, however, there is a $10 fee to park for this event. Attendees are encouraged to carpool. There will also be a shuttle attendees can take from the Peekskill Train Station to the Factoria all day back and forth every half hour starting at 4:00 p.m. Attendees are also encouraged to use the Riverwalk if they choose and take a 15 to 20 minute walk from the Riverfront Green to the Factoria.
VIP tickets for upstairs access, food buffet, beer, wine and soda and a festival t-shirt are also available via the River Outpost Brewing Company website.
