Since Monday, Carlos Jefferson has spray painted a mural of social activist Harriet Tubman on the side of the building at 13 S. Division Street which houses the African shop Fern Tree. The Brooklyn born artist, who now lives in Atlanta, GA, has been focusing on his passion of street art for the past 15 years.

“She’s still leading the flock. She’s leading you to the light,” Jefferson explained as he reflected on the importance of the piece. The mural is expected to be completed by the end of the week. It was funded through the city’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
